gmddecals 0 Posted February 12, 2014 Please help! I am brand new to this thread so please forgive me if I am putting it in the wrong spot. I have a USCutter Model SC Plotter which I run with SCAL Pro. I have done vinyl designs on it for a couple of months now, upgrading from my personal desktop machine. The problem I am having is that no matter how I set my vinyl to feed through the machine, it keeps feeding crooked as it cuts. It basically starts out straight, but it is feeding at a slant. I have tried taping a ruler to be sure I am putting the vinyl straight, using every single possible guide line, adjusting the rollers to different widths, but am stumped. How can I make this machine feed straight? Can anyone please help me as I am losing so much time constantly correcting the angle of the vinyl. Thanks so much! Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted February 12, 2014 first make sure you are prefeeding so it is not pulling the vinyl off the roll . . . . after that it is just trial feeding and adjusting the vinyl until it is going straight
Cal 393 Posted February 12, 2014 Are you locking the hold down rollers all the way? Can you post up a pic of where you have the rollers? Cal
Monkey 252 Posted February 12, 2014 I know on mine the lines in front and back arent lined up. I have to line it up then feed it through, then adjust the left side a little depending on which way its feeding off. Unless its REALLY crooked then maybe 1 of your rollers isnt tight. Use all 3 rollers and make sure your not locked down in the middle where the white thing is showing you there is no roller.
gmddecals 0 Posted February 12, 2014 Sure! I have attached two photos from the back view. I have let slack out of the roll so it is not directly pulling from the roll but this still is occurring. :/ Thanks for the help! http://s178.photobucket.com/user/epanda8899j/media/20140212_091016.mp4.html http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/epanda8899j/20140212_090525.jpg http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w278/epanda8899j/20140212_090530.jpg Thank you!! Monkey 252 Posted February 12, 2014 yeah you just need to make small adjustment. Mine will do same thing if I use lines on front and back. They changed the support page so cant link right to it Go to http://www.uscuttersupport.com/kbpage.php and type in Why is my cutter making the vinyl go sideways? BannerJohn 1,324 Posted February 12, 2014 One of the problems judging by the first pic is that one of the rollers is adjusted a lot tighter than the other. Pressure should be as equal on both as you can get it.
slice&dice 2,450 Posted February 12, 2014 Because many rolls of vinyl come pre-punched with holes on the edges, I highly recommend you retrofit (requires a bit of mechanical know-how) and give your cutter a set of sprockets.
gmddecals 0 Posted February 12, 2014 Thanks! I adjusted the tightness of each rollers (measured to be sure they were equal) and am using 2 rollers only for the 12" vinyl. It is almost exactly straight now. Thanks so much for the help!!
BannerJohn 1,324 Posted February 13, 2014 Keep an eye on them, vibration will loosen them up. I actually had one of the tightening bolts fall out once. Lucky for me it fell into the catch basket.
