skarekrow 1,842 Posted February 2, 2014 Irfanview will preview the eps format. (http://www.irfanview.com/) IInkscape supposed to open ai. (http://inkscape.org/en/) I've never had any luck with it though. This is interesting, though it didn't work for me; Change the .ai extention and it should open with foxit or adobe reader. http://weblogs.asp.net/jgalloway/archive/2008/02/24/opening-adobe-illustrator-ai-files-when-you-don-t-have-adobe-illustrator.aspx If all that fails, here's a free .ai viewer; http://aiviewer.com/
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted February 2, 2014 CS2 must be old enough that windows 7 and 8 don't like it. I'm not much of a computer geek but I think there is a setting to run older programs in a compatibility mode but I don't know how to get you there sorry. It will be well worth your time to get this figured out as you will have much better design success with the illustrator than you will ever get with SCALP. If you can get it working then you should spend a little time learning the illustrator program and you can still cut from SCALP but build your files in AI. My $0.02 Here is a link I looked up in google. You might try it or do another search and see if you can find something similar: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-run-older-programs-under-windows-8.html

30-284 86 Posted May 7, 2014 You should be able to load on both systems as I have had cs2 on both, first on windows 8 but that caused too many problems with my printer/cutter so loaded windows 7 pro and then loaded cs2 on it, worked fine. Donn
darcshadow 1,625 Posted May 7, 2014 Ghostscrip is a program that Inkscape, and other software, use to convert post script files among other things. In the case of inkscape, you have to download and install ghostscript, then go in and edit some environment variables so that Inkscape knows where ghostscript is. If this is what you are needing ghostscript for a quick google search should find you the instructions on how to do this. For getthing XP software to run under Win 7 or 8 you can try installing a virtual Windows XP system. Win 7 Pro has this as an option from Microsoft, Win 8 you will need a virtual machine software. Here is a link to a few programs and instructions on how to set up XP under Win 8. http://www.howtogeek.com/171395/how-to-get-windows-xp-mode-on-windows-8/
FrznFire07 217 Posted May 7, 2014 cs2 WILL work on win7 i'm using it right now. the trick is, illustrator is not a 64 bit program, when you install software, you have to install to the 32bit folder. there are two programfiles folders, one has (x86), it will default to this point, just make sure it goes to the 32bit folder, without (x86) in the name. also did you download your cs2 installation files from adobe? because the disks and their serial no's no longer work. darcshadow 1,625 Posted May 7, 2014 The folder shouldn't matter. Actually the x86 folder is the one where 32bit programs are typically installed on a 64-bit machine.
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted May 7, 2014 I have it on my 64bit window 7 laptop but as FrznFire mentioned I had to go get it from the adobe site. They have it there in their support section and a generic serial number to run it.
Moody Blue 505 Posted May 7, 2014 I use Adobe Bridge to view all my files. You can scroll through all your folders just like using the "finder" (sorry im a Mac guy i don't know what it is on PC).

MokiDesigns 20 Posted July 8, 2014 It costs, but Adobe Bridge is great for viewing different kinds of files all at the same time. https://creative.adobe.com/products/bridge
