stanger 3 Posted January 29, 2014 Ok, I'm back with 2 new issues. Sorry 1. I'm getting lines cut for no reason across the vinyl and it ruins the others I'm cutting out. I was told it could be static from the vinyl or system but I have no clue. It just did it again and cut a line across every single one making them bad. 2. See attached picture This just started. These deep gouges on the roller line. What causes those? (btw I brightened it up quite a bit so you could see it) Thanks again everybody!
stanger 3 Posted January 29, 2014 Just tried it again. When it got to the last letter of the last cut, it took off down the roll and cut a line almost 3 feet before I caught it.
GraphxNMore 282 Posted January 29, 2014 Could very well be static if it's happening with multiple designs. Place a sheet of cardboard under the wheels, see if that helps. Everything I touch in my house pops me these days, I'm guessing due to the cold weather.
darcshadow 1,625 Posted January 29, 2014 Cardboard won't help. If it is static, the static is building up on the vinyl and then discharging through the blade and into the plotter. If you ground the stand to the plotter, or any ground really, when you place the roll of vinyl on the stand it will discharge into the stand and protect the plotter. stanger 3 Posted January 29, 2014 Thanks. I'll see if some alligator clips might help
stanger 3 Posted January 30, 2014 I used an alligator clip from the roller bracket and the bracket that the plotter sits on, so far so good
