Hey all, does anyone have a vector version of this:

I tried to trace, but it just comes out grainy.

Thanks

I dropped it into Vector Magic and it came out looking very good as a 4-color vector.  I would redo the USN in the cap, because text never comes out 100% perfect.

I don't know the copyright status of that design so I don't want to post the result here.

Jason,

I Played with it in Illustrator and yes, the best I could come up with in colors was kinda wonky.

I switched up and traced it as black and white with slightly better results...

the settings I used (in CS3) are as follows;

threshold 62, path fitting  1.5px,   min area 5px,   corner angle 20.

these settings produced 44 paths with 311 anchors.

At this point I should disclose that I rarely use Illustrator for tracing so others may have better results.

I am much more proficient with Inkscape and the file yielded very good results with both color and b&w outputs.

I dropped it into Vector Magic, saved it as an EPS file, took that into CorelDraw and exported it as a PNG to show how it looks.  This is with no tweaking, except for removing the white background, which I did in Vector Magic.

You're welcome. I have been around Illustrator for years but never really liked the program.

Found Inkscape a few years back and have grown to like it more with every successful project.

Also have been less than enthused with where Adobe is heading with subscriptions and the cloud, etc.

These factors and others are pushing me away form Illustrator and even have me looking at Gimp.

Check out Inkscape.
