cod543 0 Posted October 27, 2013 I recently bought my SC cutter plotter, and first the black cartridge was off its hinges so i put all 3 wheels back on the tracks. So thats not a problem anymore. Yet, now the blade holder doesnt come down enough to hit the vinyl, meaning that theres still space between the vinyl and the blade. the blade is out enough however. I dont know if i got a small blade holder or if there is a malfunction anybody have any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Rodger 527 Posted October 27, 2013 Check and see if the holder is all the way down in it's clamp . If not tight , sometimes they push up some .
cod543 0 Posted October 27, 2013 the clamp is the thing next to the cartridge right ?
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted October 27, 2013 Make sure those wheels are firmly down in the track. Here is the repair guide: as a double check. Yes, blade holder clamp is next to the carrriage head. http://support.uscutter.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/253/60/05-sc-series-carriage-off-track-repair-guide
cod543 0 Posted October 27, 2013 I actually got all three wheels in the track last night. so it works smoothly now. its just the blade has space between the vinyl
MZ SKEETER 4,708 Posted October 27, 2013 this is how you set your blade correctly: To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting. You should only be cutting the vinyl and barely a mark on wax paper backing, Adjust blade to get there, Then put the blade holder back in machine, and use the force of the machine to get there, same results, only cutting the vinyl and barely a mark in wax paper backing. cod543 0 Posted October 27, 2013 My blade is in correctly, less than the width of a credit card. My problem is: the blade doesnt reach the vinyl.
slice&dice 2,450 Posted October 27, 2013 The blade holder sits within the clamp (there's a slot to accept the blade holder). In other words, it isn't designed to rest with the flange of the blade holder sitting on top of the clamp assembly, but rather nestled inside of it.
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted October 27, 2013 is the blade holder dropping when the cut command is given?

He wouldn't be the first person to make that mistake, either.
karkess 28 Posted October 27, 2013 HA! I did the exact same thing when I got my cutter a couple weeks ago. I bet your blade holder looks like this right now... Grab the blade holder and pull up...I bet it slides right out. This is how it should look.... Hope this helps...
slice&dice 2,450 Posted October 27, 2013 Great illustrations for what I tried to indicate, karkess. Those close-up pix are exactly what the doctor ordered. Gold star for you.
karkess 28 Posted October 27, 2013 LOL! Took me a bit to figure why my machine wasn't working. Can I wear the star on my forehead?
