arcticmonster 4 Posted September 23, 2013 I have a client who's always trying new stuff and he wants to have a decal made and then he wants to paint over it, and have it sticking out. What is the thickest vinyl you can get that is still workable with a cutting machine. thanks.
OWJones 1,981 Posted September 23, 2013 It all depends on your cutter and how you have your blade set - I cut sand blast stencil material which is 18 mil thick, or about 6x the thickness of average vinyl. It's not real sticky, so I wouldn't suggest using that for a permanent installation, but thick materials are possible.
arcticmonster 4 Posted September 24, 2013 where I get my vinyl, 2.8mil is the thickest material they have. the sandblast stencil are 33mil thick. Guess i'll have to look elsewhere. thanks.
Wildgoose 4,200 Posted September 24, 2013 I got a free roll end of some 3M reflective vinyl for print (which I don't do) and I think it is 10 mil. I followed a link on here somewhere and requested a free sample and they called and asked a few questions and then send 5yd x 48" roll. I haven't used it too much yet because its an off white but it has air release technology, little air vents in the adhesive and goes on super nice.
arcticmonster 4 Posted September 24, 2013 that's the problem with being in canada. no one wants to send us free demo's.
