Cal 393 Posted September 7, 2013 These are for my son's car; a '67 Firebird. I did the simple etching to begin with. He was thrilled with them. Then I decided to try my hand at a reverse etching on the rear and applying paint. The red is a glitter paint and really sparkles. It is hard for me to describe his reaction to this second set... BTW - if you have any tips for taking pics of mirrors, please share! Cal

Monkey 252 Posted September 7, 2013 Both look great! So on the colored ones you etched away the "backing"? I havent tried that but was thinking about it the other day. My first car was a 69 Firebird.....man I regret getting rid of that. Also kick myself for getting rid of an extremely rare 67 Tempest Custom Sprint. Im a Pontiac guy through and through. Right now have a 2006 GTO
Cal 393 Posted September 7, 2013 Thanks handyman, Monkey - shame on you for parting with such fine classics! I bought this one when I was a kid about 40+ years ago. After my son & I did the restore I gave it to him. As for the technique on the back of the mirror, that was exactly what I did. Remember to reverse the image. It looks a lot better in person than in the pic... Cal
Monkey 252 Posted September 7, 2013 Beautiful car! One day Ill make up for younger "mistakes" with a 67 GTO Convertible. Thats always been my dream car
rlvied 292 Posted September 7, 2013 Nice job on the mirrors and the car. I do a lot of blasting on mirrors and always do it from the back and paint. The problem of blasting from the front is you always get a ghost image. The mirrors make great bar signs for the man cave. Bob
