Vinyl plotter problem

Was wondering why my plotter sometimes cuts perfect and on others it seems to drag the blade and the vinyl gets caught on the blade and it looks terrible.

2 things come to mind - a drop  of 3 in 1 or sering machine oil in the blade holder and "too much blade exposed!"
