noosh 5 Posted October 24, 2012 Hi there! I have been thinking for a long time about buying a printer to print the new interior craze fabric wall decals. I already cut vinyl wall decals specialising in childrens rooms but I am looking to expand a little. They are repositional and eco friendly which appeals to the mum and dad market I cater for. Just wondering if anyone knows what printer I should start with? Nothing too pricy just one that will do the job at an entry level price. Thanks!
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted October 24, 2012 Wow that was a new one on me - I had to look it up - not sure on the printer for the bio degradable stuff - personally have been using phototex and it is hardly eco friendly - but works great
vinylmotivations 143 Posted October 24, 2012 You're probably referring to Phototex? http://blog.lexjet.com/2012/09/25/a-million-and-one-uses-for-photo-tex-repositionable-fabric/ They make an aqueous version but guessing VERY pricey and the articles say the solvent version is much more durable and has a better color gamut. Solvent really is the way to go but expect to spend 5-6k on a used entry level printer.
noosh 5 Posted October 24, 2012 I have been looking into Revivawall http://gicleemedia.com.au/gms43/Revivawall-High-Tac-Adhesive-Textile that sells here in Australia... Suspose to print in unmodified inkjet printers. Seems to be able to use the pigment inks that are used in epson printers?
knucklehead 530 Posted October 27, 2012 Try to find an older Epson, or HP pigment printer, at least 36 inch wide. I would say the Revivawall media, is just rebranded Phototex. And any of the fabric based materials are hard to contour cut with a cutter. Because they are fabric.
