Mystery cutter I got for the low low price of FREE!!!

Recommended Posts

So I've been at my current job for 11 years and all the while theres been this graphtec just chilling in the corner (at our corporate office) collecting dust and acting as a catchall for everything and anything. So I've been hounding him to buy it off of him and last week he says just "come get it and take it cause I/we arent using it. "

Imagine my surprise! So I hauled tail up there on friday, my day off (2hr drive) to pick it up. Well he obviously doesn't know that graphtec is a brand name and not a general term. I end up loading up this hefty old cutter that the sign shop manager says worked great when put away and always ran perfect. All I have been able to find is that it's a VyTek Gem series 42". Can anyone tell me where to find parts for it? The feed roller had a rubberized coating on it that is dry rotted and falling off. Is it even worth cleaning up an repairing or should I just chuck it? I'll post a pic of it later when I get a chance.

Thanks in advance.

Does that help?

Allen Datagraph bought the vinyl cutting division of Vytek, but that was quite a while ago. I'm not sure that they support it anymore. If you want to do something with it, it's worth a call or e-mail.

If it's still working you could use it for tractor feed vinyl, but you're limited to rolls of material with 1/2" punch pattern.

Do you still have this machine?
