Promise 38 Posted July 14, 2012 So I am looking at venturing into the world of heat transfer vinyl. Can anyone help me out with the pro's and con's of clam shell and swing arm presses. If there even is much of a difference other than style. I have one of each picked out already, just having trouble deciding between them. Any help would be much appreciated. Dr12volt1338 116 Posted July 14, 2012 I like my swing arm better. It's easier to load shirts and get the transfer where you want it. Also you aren't working with your hands that close to the heated surface of the press.
banditt2129 25 Posted July 14, 2012 I have a clam shell and its okay. After seeing the swing arm in use, I wish I had went with that.
OWJones 1,981 Posted July 14, 2012 The only draw back I know of to the swing arm style is that they require more square footage of space so you have room to swing it out of the way. If I hadn't found a great deal on a clam shell model locally, I had planned to buy a swing arm.
