Eastwood 1 Posted July 6, 2012 I did a sign on .040 Aluminum, it is going outside on a block wall the customer gave me 1/4" plywood to attach it to. My question is should I adhere aluminum to the plywood or screw it into the wood? if I adhere it what do you recommend? Thanks in advance
mabscotthandyman 1,410 Posted July 6, 2012 Usaly when mounting to a exterior wall I build a 1in. Square tubing frame to mount the sign to . In your case I would laminate the plywood and metal if the plywood is Flat then mount as one unit . If the block wall is reasonably flat and smooth you can mount the alum. Panel directly to the block using drive pin fasteners or tapcon concrete screws I do it quite often especially on temporary signs. Dan
slice&dice 2,450 Posted July 7, 2012 Make sure you are using a hammer-drill.
Eastwood 1 Posted July 7, 2012 Its a flat wall, so I will end up using tapcons. Thanks all for the reply.
