Heat Press Blowing Fuses!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I have the 15" by 15" clamshell press that comes with the combo deal. I've had it since November and have pressed about 150 items or so. The fuse has blown 2 times already, and melted the power cord. Is this common? Has this happened to anyone else? And is there anything I can to to prevent it from happening again? Thanks.

I would get a voltage meter and check the wiring in your house first. If you are 'blowing fuses' sounds like you have an older home and there could easily be some issues there. If you actually mean tripping the breaker there could still be issues with the wireing. You may need to run a dedicated line for the press.

Thanks for the info Neuromax. I am running a dedicated circuit just for the cutter. I think I found an issue... the machine is rated for 15A but they used 10A parts... the power cord and power inlet are rated 10A, so if the machine draws more than thats the issue. The fues actually wasn't blown, the inlet actually melted and the plastic was covering the metal part of the fuse holder... I will give them a call because this definitely isn't safe!
