Newish, SC Cutter Help.

Recommended Posts

Hello First like to say I have done many of searches before I decided to post.

Okay so my Problems,

1. Cutting across work Randomly

2. Stopping in the middle of bigger projects

From the searches I have done it seems I need to Ground my Cutter to the stand and get a Keyspan Adapter because my laptop does not have a serial port.

Here is what I am using if the helps.

SC series 34" Cutter, Sign Cut Pro, Connected Via USB

I have cut a lot of sticker in the short couple of months I have owned it, and I love it but my patience has been running thin when it comes to not finishing orders and wasting vinyl.

ANY Tips or tricks would be helpful and hopefully we can sticky this topic so that anyone else searching for this problem(s) will have it solved

Sounds like a good place to start. It should solve the problem.

It is listed on the USCUTTER support website,, if it's a problem for any vinyl cutter. You might want to read thru the support section for any more problems that can arise.

Well I Grounded out the Cutter to the stand (a little Powder coat sanding had to be done) Pulled the blade and have been running test runs on my 20" diameter project and so far no hiccups.

Now I guess I just need to grab a Keyspan Adapter, Any sugestion on which one to get, or are they all the same?

LOL we gave you the brand name,,, Keyspan adapter. can be had on Ebay , some people have used Radio Shack, but not all are equal. Thus Keyspan adapter. Here is an example from EBAY...

Will the SC series really need a Keyspan adapter? The SC series already has a usb connection built into the cutter? It's also noted that the Keyspan adapter is only needed for Mac users. I am also having issues with Cutting across work Randomly. I haven't had the cutter stop on me yet. At first I thought it was because I had my screen saver on but that is not the case.

FYI. I just got my old desktop computer working and started cutting using the Serial port. Well I have to say all is well. Have run many large jobs without an issue.

Thanks for everyone's help!

The SC should not even have a USB port as it does not work. A serial adapter fixed all of my problems instantly. A side benefit of it too was my speeds increased and no more wasted vinyl. Another easy static fix is to put a couple cheap dryer sheets inside the roll of vinyl.
