Any Tips for Applying Cut Vinyl to a Large Sign in Sections?

Recommended Posts

I am doing my first large signs in the next week or so. They will be 4'x6' and as I have a small plotter I will have to do it in several sections. I do not normally do signs and never anything this big. I know a lot of good old fashioned measuring will be involved, but I was wondering if anyone had any great tips or tricks for getting all the different sections laid out quickly and easily on the sign. I was thinking I could maybe do something with registration marks. I imagine some of you old pros have some nifty tricks up your sleeves.

I also just wanted to say a general thank you to everyone here. I have learned so much and have received some excellent advice which I greatly appreciate.

Lay out with a stabilo pencil then tape the sections on to make sure every thing works out before applying any thing. Make sure all your horizontal and vertical lay out is correct and your margins are right before starting installation.
