Am I damaging anything?

Recommended Posts

I am a newbie so I apologize in advance--I know my terminology is going to be all wrong. But I just got my MH-721 up and running and have done a few cuts. Despite my best efforts, there have been a few cuts that have gone outside my vinyl and have landed the blade onto the white protective strip that adhered between the rollers and the velvety-strip (cue my use of technical terms! ). After only a few cuts, that little white protective strip seems to be coming up on the sides already. On one side, it is peeling up a good 2.5.-3 inches. I just keep pushing it down, but I'm concerned that it has started peeling already. Am I doing something wrong? Am I damaging something?

Thanks in advance, y'all on this forum are such a wealth of knowledge!

*Note, as soon as I realize that the blade has gone off of the vinyl I turn off the machine to stop the cut... I don't leave the machine to cut alone yet, so I haven't had it cutting along the white strip for long periods of time.

It sound to me that your not lining up the vinyl correctly. It should never in perfect circumstance's come off the vinyl while cutting. The cutting strips are made to be changed and it is there to protect you blade from excessive wear.
