rhinoman1 0 Posted April 16, 2011 Is there a vinyl used on fiberglass or wood boats that stands up to salt water? I am looking into doing boat names, license, decals Just wondering.
Sheetmetal Pete 0 Posted April 16, 2011 Is there a vinyl used on fiberglass or wood boats that stands up to salt water? I am looking into doing boat names, license, decals Just wondering. I do a fair amount of boat registrations and names. I switch between Oracal 651 & 751. I typically use 651 for boats that are stored inside and are only used a handful of time a year. I use 751 on the rest.
stetson5331 80 Posted April 16, 2011 I use Orajet 3651 printable for custom colors and 651 Oracal for stock colors.. On the boats that I do... Seems to last a long time stetson5331
rhinoman1 0 Posted April 17, 2011 Thanks for the info. Definately appreciate you all takin the time to answer. Seems to be a consensus on the
neron15210 10 Posted April 17, 2011 I have to chime in before you make mistake and use Oracal 651 on the boat.. If I understand correctly, graphics will be installed on the boat which will be exposed to the salt water. In that case it would be wrong to use anything lesser than Oracal 851 (cast vinyl made for application lie this one) I understand it does cost a bit more than 651, or 751 but in order to get repeating business and good referrals it is necessity to use proper material.
