Totally new on this... have a question.

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody.

I work with CAD for making steel parts (2D). Using CNC and gcode.

I have the basis for drawing in software like Corel Draw, no problem with PCs.

Just thinking about making those stickers decals, those one you see on your cars, generally all white using positive/negative views.

Just thinking if I could do that using a Vinyl Cutter.

Some suggestions, recommendations? I would like to get some small, entry level and for beginners, economic and easy to use in order to start.

Thank you

Yes, that is how they are done. Any of the entry level models at USCutter would work. Refine, Laserpoint or if you have a little extra cash, the Copam. Some software will accept DXF CAD files for cutting but Corel or Illustrator will create the vector type of file required for cutters. DXF are vector based too.

youd have no problem.

it takes me days to draw up a simple part in cad, (although ive never done any cnc machining) but i can create a eps file for cutting in minutes.

i just started not that long ago with a cheap mh series from us cutter and its been working great. now, knowing that i can do it, i wouldnt mind upgrading to a good cutter, someday, but i have no regrets on buying what i have.
