Hi There,

This is typical of stuff for night clubs.

This is how i would do it.

The letters would have been fabricated from acrylic.

Then back lit with LEDs.

Then the effects are created with a standard electronic chaser for LEDs.

Cost of the whole sign would not be that high.

Depends on letter height and number of LEDs.

Hello,

I missed that.

This is available in sheets.

You do not cut it.

You mask out the areas not needed.

They may have used one sheet per letter.

This is also run using standard chasers.

ok Did jome research and it is electroluminessent light. The co is ellight graffix out of florida. yes you can cut it apparently it is not easy work though. they seem to be the only co. in america experimenting with the stuff though. This stuff produces almost no heat, is very flexable, and last a long time. it is expected to totally take over neon lighting. They did the car to show how thin the stuff is. There is no "bucket" commonly used with led lighting and yes they did use vinyl to mask areas. As far as cost, I didnt get that far yet however it has to be far less than an led job would cos to accomplish the same thing. Oh yea lots of diffrent colors also. I will update as i know more

1 more thing electroluminesence is used in the thin flat, green night lights they sell every where.

Possibilities are endless???!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,

That is correct.

The electroluminescent stuff sold here is imported from Hong Kong.

It cannot be cut into letter shapes.

I'm new to youtube and noticed the car.

My company did the car and you can see it on our website at www.lumamediainc.com

LumaMedia is the ONLY EL made in the U.S. and you can cut it into any shape as it is a completely different structure to the Chinese panels.

I'd be glad to help anyone with questions.

All the best,

Bob Ray

BK,

A job like that Fuzion car is about $6000.

The price is based on how much panel you are driving and the complexity of design.

That car was pretty basic.  It's a lot like any of our company cars. just an animated logo etc.

There are a lot of different price points. for instance the side windows are simple panels with a vinyl blackout and

are just running simple solid or flash power supplies.

Any time you need to start 'animating/sequencing' it gets more expensive.

Size you can go from a pea to a billboard.

Wiring, the panels are terminated and run through existing molding holes so that made it a lot easier.

When you are doing a complete wrap you can hide the flat wire under the wrap.

I hope that helps a bit.

Feel free to contact me through the site.

All the best,

Bob

I found another product that's not as fascinating, but looks pretty cool for those of you who do any vinyl printing.  The product is called Per'f-alite and is made by LaserVisions.  Check it out: http://www.electricvinyl.com/shop/com_retro_reflect_01.php

A basic 36" x 25' kit will cost you around $1,000 and doesn't include the print job.  If you want a hanging picture, it'll cost you about $250 and up which includes 1 print job.

But I do have to agree, that LumaMedia stuff is awesome!

BTW... That's not street legal now is it?

TP,

I've actually had a lot of cops ask us to do their cars.

We produce our control units with a six position preset switch on top of the animation software

so that when you are cooking down the highway at night that it just remains solid.

In 4 years of testing, running full animation in different states we haven't had a ticket yet ( for the lighting anyway LOL )

Feel free to call us at any time and we can answer any questions you may have.
