MattS 0 Posted July 25, 2010 Are these printers anything more then just a printer? Does anyone know if these can be used for outdoor banners? Is the cutter in this just a length cutter or can it do contour cutting? I am getting ready to go pick one up today from a package deal on some other stuff. I was just thinking of reselling it but I wanted to make I couldn't use it first. Thanks Matt
Buggie Pilot 4 Posted July 28, 2010 Just an inkjet printer and only cuts width. I dont even think it is capable of using uv inks but I could be wrong

Buggie Pilot 4 Posted July 28, 2010 Standard inkjet printer - no cutter and all colors are dye based Just to clarify ... It does have an automatic cutter but only cuts the job off the roll
MattS 0 Posted July 28, 2010 The Thermal Inkjet thing keeps messing with me. That really doesn't mean a thermal printer, correct? Maybe I am not understanding some things.
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted July 28, 2010 You are confusing a thermal inkjet with a thermal printer. the rolands with the ribbons are thermal printers and transfer the material from the ribon onto the substrate. the thermal inkjet heats the ink and it is forced thru the nozzle onto the paper. About the only Thermal printer I can think of still used today is the Roland Edge, other than the old ones with the ribbons still around out there
