Before ;D I usually get paid after job is done and approved. Might have to change that.

He won't make it very far doing business that way.  For what little you charge for this service, there is no excuse for skipping out on payment.  I don't think you'll offend anyone by asking for payment up front.  I would expect to pay up front for a service like this.

Joe,

I always ask for payment before starting a job whether I`m doing a vector or making signs

learned my lesson the hard way.

Same here, I've got burnt years ago. Since then I require payment up front before proceeding with any vector work...

Joe ,

I hope Karma gets them  ;D . I can't believe how cheap some sell their pride & integrity for ... if they have any conscience at all , not paying you will cost them plenty . Internet stuff is WAY more tricky than in person ( which fails many times ) . It is a tough situation where trust has to be given 1 way or the other . In other instances , I have read about people paying up front & not getting prompt service or having problems . I choose to take a hit once in a while rather than get all the moey upfront in any business that I do . A policy that makes people pay all up front looses some honest customers IMO . !/2 up front may be a better deal for both parties .

I guess I didn't know you could make money doing vectors  ;D How much does one usually charge for that anyway ? I do my own, but I was just curious because mine get pretty detailed at times  :-

Oh, my bad, didn't know you had a website for it  ;D Yeah $5 isn't too bad  ;D Better than going out and buying an $80 pack in the hopes that it's what you want  ;D Seems like anymore I have to vectorize every single graphic I do. Although, once in a great while I'll get a nice black and white  :P Here's an example of what I've done, a before and after if you will  ;D

Joe:  Sounds like a lesson learned here.  I would give them a preview in a non vector format before handing over the real deal from now on. ;D They'll get theirs at some point in life.

No, I didnt send him the vector file. I just sent a jpeg. Thats how I usually work (might change tho). I vector, I send jpeg for preview, customer approves or request changes, customer pays, I send vector. I did not send a vector file, but I worked it.

Riddle, I dont chrge $5 for all jobs. It depends on complexity. $5 is for one color graphics that I can make in one trace, like a continuous shape.

Complex things are priced different.

Joe even if it's only a JPG you're sending out, you'll get guys taking that and do a runner.  Send it out with the centre of the graphic missing, that way they can still see what they're getting but can't use the image in any way.

Ahh, gotcha! Good deal, even if a trace from your jpeg will be easier for them to do than the original, they'll still have to work a little for it.
