RayC 0 Posted December 17, 2007 I received my PCUT on Friday and tried getting it going over the weekend. I've made some progress by reading posts in this forum but am still having a major problem. The knife/pen holder doesn't go up or down using the up/down buttons while off-line and when I try and do the test square by pressing "pause" twice while off line the square is drawn but the pen doesn't move up or down. If I push the holder mechanism down manually I'll get a portion of the square drawn but not all of it and the pen stays down which draws a line when the paper moves in the machine. I started trying to cut vinyl and decided instead to play around with paper and the pen. Please help!
Dragracer 0 Posted December 17, 2007 Maybe try more down force. When I first got my Pcut I used the pen and paper (plotting) to get things going before wasting any vinyl. Kevin
RayC 0 Posted December 17, 2007 Thanks for the suggestion which I just tried. If I increase the force to the max 255 it draws but the pen doesn't lift when returning so I end up with diaganol lines as well as the box. If I go down as far as 100 the lines are very faint. Other ideas?
Popeye 0 Posted December 17, 2007 I'd guess you've got a loose connection somewhere or maybe a missing spring. Mine spring returns "up" even when off.
RayC 0 Posted December 17, 2007 The loose connection sounds like a possibility since it doesn't move either from the panel up/down buttons or when I cut/draw from SignBlazer. Any idea where to look?
Popeye 0 Posted December 17, 2007 The spring still could be disconnected.. I'm not sure where the board is located... you might want to give Ken a yell... he can tell you exactly where to look and how to get to it.
kenimes 42 Posted December 17, 2007 I would open the carriage and investigate. Make sure the wires are secure. The carriage case should pop right off.
RayC 0 Posted December 18, 2007 Quick update - I figured out how to take off the carriage cover this morning, couldn't see an easy way to check if the wires were connected correctly (they're underneath a paper-like sleeve and didn't want to screw something up worse) but did wiggle them a bit. I then tried a test cut with the cover off and amazingly the pen went up and down! Put the cover back on and so far it seems to be working correctly. Very strange but hopefully problem solved. Thanks.
