sherwood 0 Posted June 7, 2010 I was working away yesterday cutting a lot of larger graphics on my MH721 using the sign blazer elements software running it with a dell laptop with windows 7 through the USB. I have my cutter grounded as you all have mentioned in these forums. When working on these larger graphics occasionally It will just stop cutting. Sometimes the task bar that says sending to cutter goes away like it thinks it's done, sometimes it stays there like it is still sending the info until I click cancel then i get not responding and have to restart the soft ware. Could this be the usb cable? Would it be wise for me to go to one of the usb to serial converters like mentioned in this forum? Any Input would be appreciated!! Thanks!! thredz 1 Posted June 7, 2010 If the graphics are large, sometimes they have a lot of nodes to read especially if the design has detail. The 721's only have 4 megs of memory and all of those nodes it has to read when you send it to the cutter fill up the memory. But if it's running and doing it occasionally, then it would not be a problem with the usb port. Hope that helps.

What I do...turn off and UNPLUG the cutter every so often to clear the memory. Just Turning it off won't do it.
sherwood 0 Posted June 7, 2010 Ok, I did try Just turning it off, and it was hit and miss, did not always work. I never even thought about unplugging it to clear clear the memory,That makes perfect sense!! It always cuts the first one just fine, it happens when I try the second or third one I will give that one a try!! Thanks again For the wonderful help!! lonestarcountrymusic 3 Posted June 10, 2010 i dont think the mh721s have 4megs i believe they only have 1 meg i just upgraded mine and since my "work computer" crapped out i am moving it to my personal desktop which does not have a serial port on it. im going to see how well it does with the now 4megs. hockeygirl 30 Posted June 11, 2010 USB loses connection too if the job is too big. If you can only use USB, put a dedicated card in your desktop or use an external powered hub.

rrc1962 0 Posted June 11, 2010 The best solution is to buy an older 2-2.5G box with a serial port running XP Pro and dedicate it to vinyl cutting. I know two years ago it was near impossible to get a reliable USB connection. Sounds like it hasn't got much better. I paid $50 for the PC that runs FlexiPro and my plotter. That's all it does. It sits right beside my other PC on KVM switch. I've cut jobs where the plotter ran for over 30 minutes straight with no problems.
Guest HowardI Posted June 25, 2010 If your MH freezes or stops in the middle of cuts try this: REMOVE THE BLADE and the vinyl. Send the job. Oh, it cut all the way thru this time? I bet it'll do it over and over to completion. If so, your issue is static. The proof is that it only does it with vinyl in the machine. If it still halts then it's something else (marginal usb cable, loose usb socket, need the driver updated, etc.) Hope this is helpful!
