gearrightdesigns 0 Posted May 29, 2010 I bought my laserpoint about a year ago. I bought it to work on a clothing line but put it on hold because of the recession. I also airbrush but I airbrush free hand but have used the cutter to make 4-6 stencils since I've had the cutter. Every time I used the cutter I had to unplug then plug back up the usb cord to get the cutter to work. Since I don't use the cutter much I forgot to unplug and plug back in every time I went to use it. So the last time I used it it took me almost 2 hours to get it started. So while trouble shooting I noticed that it said the laser should be on. I haven't seen a laser since I had the machine so I contacted us cutter and let them know about the problem. They told me to send it in. It cost me $40 to mail and $40 for insurance $80 in total. So I got it back put it on the stand secured it and plugged it in to make sure it was atleast coming on. I didn't go to actually use it until this weekend and no go. The piece of sh** is worst than before. The laser is still not lite and the panal just stays on online mode. It's going to be great to see how they handle this. The machine never worked correctly and then after repair its worst!!!!!!!!! Bad business for us cutter. I spent over $2,000 with them not even a whole year ago and wont be spending another dime. WHY SELL JUNK??
Dakotagrafx 7,297 Posted May 29, 2010 if you spent 2000 you should have put 1200 (price a year ago) on a graphtec! Time to put in a ticket and get some support! Just curious why didn't you put in a ticket before on the plugging and unplugging to get iwt working right int he first place? Once working the laserpoint and p-cut were great starter machines and have made a lot of people a lot of money - too bad they discontinued them
gearrightdesigns 0 Posted May 29, 2010 I did send ticket and was told to send it in and got back worst!!!!!!!!!!! Besides the $634 I spent on the cutter and sign shop in box I also bought a mighty press 16x20 only used that a dozen times hope that holds up. My big issue is how do I receive back a machine in worst condition then when i sent it in for repair??;)

lynnpromotions 0 Posted May 30, 2010 Switch to a serial cable and you will be happier. We have never had an issue since we switched.
#D-zine# 2 Posted May 31, 2010 Switch to a serial cable and you will be happier. We have never had an issue since we switched. [/quote Yep, that is all I ran mine with and never once had an issue with it reading or cutting. Great little machine for the price for sure.
lynnpromotions 0 Posted June 3, 2010 Great little machine for the price for sure. Our lp paid for itself on the first job we did. It runs up to 10-14 hours a day pretty much non-stop cutting apparel vinyl. For short runs it beats screen printing and for small details on dark garments it beats screen printing hands down. We are able to compete against screen printing on almost every job we do for t's with this cutter and we can turn an order in just a few hours if we have the shirts in stock. BandM 0 Posted June 8, 2010 We have had ours for over 3 years, talk about pay for itself!!!! But when we first got it I wondered what we had gotten into, but thanks to this WONDERFUL FORUM & the expertise of Ken we switched to the serial cable & we have gone NON STOP since! BannerJohn 1,324 Posted June 28, 2010 Now, the LP24 that I have is a GREAT machine for the money.. It works (AS EXPECTED) hint... I said "for the money" no matter what kind of machine you use in life.. for it to do any real "work", requires some sort of input. Your post doesn't exactly have any prudent input. All I got from it was that the red LED isn't lit. Really. From reading your post, it would appear that you have turned on the machine, and it just sits there. No other input was noticed. a poor workman always blames his tools.
Guest YHC Posted June 28, 2010 There are many things that could cause the issues you are having troubles with. The laser light is used to line up your contour cuts. It could have not been plugged in all the way or just might have been bad out of the box. But this wouldn't be the cause of having to unplug and plug in the cord to get it to work. It could be a motherboard issue but I would bet that its something to do with your operating system. We would be able to provide better feedback if you can tell us the following: What your OS is What inputs you've tried What Software is being used Also, have you tried it on more them one computer
NukleoN 34 Posted July 3, 2010 I am happy with my LP24. If you're having trouble with the USB get a Keyspan and see if that helps.
Guest HowardI Posted July 12, 2010 I notice a lack of response from the person with the cutter. You should call in and talk to us - we DO want to help! As you can see from many other people with LP24's that they are not junk and you seem to be the one who drew the short straw. It happens with every cutter. I had to repair a graphtec recently. it was brand new out of the box and did not work. Customer had to send it in for repair. Just because you got one with a problem doesn't mean we won't help you. Bashing us and calling the machine junk is not a reasonable way to ask for help. On the other hand if you communicate with us we will help. If we didn't care we wouldn't have a forum or a tech support group. I do hope you get the machine working, LP's can turn out some nice work! Androidge23 0 Posted October 1, 2010 i was about to add to that opening statement, but realized. ITS A VALUE CUTTER =] you get what you pay for, as someone lower down stated, if you want better, pay more get a graphtec. my old roomie has a graphtec, uses it still today ( 10 years later ) 4-5 hours a day. i personally have the 12'' MH-365 and the 36" Laserpoint. the MH blows the lasrpoint out of the water on quality, but i assume thats because its much smaller. the laserpoint was my 1st cutter, and almost 3 years old. ( id say 2.5 ish ) it is insanely louder than the 1st day, and has an occasional hickup but it IS A WORKHORSE. it just takes some time to LEARN to use it. i highly doubt you had as many issues as i did when i started. little did i know it was just my lack of understanding how to calibrate, and fine tune my possess. granted that being said, it is about time for a new one, im surprised i got as long as i did out of it. but i will be back to uscutter for the next one i buy. for both my machines, they have paid for themselves almost instantaneously and hold up well for the money. what more can you ask for? my 2 cents. AshComputers 197 Posted February 3, 2011 heheeheh I think he plugged in the serial cable and away it went. I've had my LP for 2 to 3 weeks and this thing flies!!!!!! Talk about a great cutter for the price! You have to READ and see what everything says.... use a SERIAL CABLE, and DO NOT use Flexisign with it. Signcut ROCKS!!!! Inkscape and SBE also!!!!! READ BEFORE YOU JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS PEOPLE!!!! I bet 99.9% is user ignorance!!! My 2 cents
