hey US... heres a f******G tip!

 got your attention? good...

tell me why you use signblazer..... its outdated and under developed.. (sorry guys i know he passe away)

but honestly.. everyone here uses inkscape to vector images, why don't you get someone to make it work with your plotter/cutter, or do it yourself... you have no idea how many times i hear people (off forum) knocking your product, just because of signblazer!!!!!!!!

..... you could be the end all/be all if you just used inkscape!!!!!!!!

...i paid a extra $30 for "corel essentials 4"just to realize how much it wont do a danmed thing... inkscape is the best thing to happen to your cutters, and you ignore it like the plague!0

...so lets see how long this is up before deleting.. seeing as you let all the other topics keep going, but limit all the complaints!!!!!

First of all: we don't limit any of the complaints, nor do we regulate what or how people post on the forum. The forum is moderated by hardworking and dedicated people to ensure that the ability of others to freely post is not impeded upon by those who would be malicious or vindictive and they do their jobs very well. The forum isn't necessarily a USCutter forum; it's a forum created by USCutter for the graphics, vinyl and sign making community as a whole and as a benefit to all. (this is called forward thinking) The moderators often post their own complaints about UScutter because (here's a tip: ) we're not perfect. There are lots of things we can improve on and we work long hours every day in an effort to do so.

Second: It's my understanding that we use SignBlazer because we had a strong relationship with the creator of the software before he passed, and even after years with zero development it is still a relevant and viable option as a design and cutting utility for a very large number of people who use nothing else. It never ceases to amaze me how easily someone can complain about something that is offered to them- for Free. And here is another tip, also free: we do use inkscape; (also free www.inkscape.org) it is included with every purchase of a new cutter as an optional down load with SignCut Pro. Did I mention we offered SignCut Pro for free for a whole year? or Flexi Starter, FlexiSign Pro and Flexi Expert? or MyTinter for window tinting? Or Free technical support to anyone who calls regardless of whether or not they purchased from us?

Is SignBlazer the end-all be-all of design and cutting utilities? No. But it is free. And there is something to be said about not looking a gift horse in the mouth. Cheers!

I do agree.  SBE is not perfect.  But it's easy to use, it's free, and it does work!

I know there are some hiccups in the program.  But not everyone who buys a cutter is highly computer literate!

What if you own a race car and all you want are large numbers?  Do you *REALLY* need to use inkscape and signcut for that?  NO!

What if you didn't assume that everyone with a cutter does the same things you do?  That would be much smarter and more productive than bashing us or our customers who choose to use sigbblazer.  Even if you don't use it, why can't someone else?

I think a more productive use of this post would have been something like "Alternatives to signblazer" - which we DO offer already as Ninja said.

So let's all try to be more positive and helpful and less bashing and negativity, shall we?

Glad to see someone from USC answer this...

There are LOADS of people who use Signblazer as their only cutting software and wouldn't have anything else. I guess they took the time to actually learn how to use it. As it is, it is a good cutting/design program. Inkscape is NOT a cutting program.

As for comment...as the one who does most of the actual modding on here, I can tell you, I have never removed a post from this section. That's what it's for. To complain...and no matter how stupid someone comes across, I leave it alone. As they say, 'give a man enough rope and he will hang himself'.

As a professional in the business of making signs, I know that if you want to do something, sometimes you have to actually pay MONEY for the software that you need. If Signblazer doesn't work for you, explore that option.

Maybe you can find someone who actually writes code and convince them to write a plug-in that allows cutting directly from Inkscape. I don't think anyone at USC writes code.

People who use Signblazer, ARE also using  inkscape as their FREE vector program, and save their designs as an .eps, then import into Sign Blazer with no problems.

you could take the time and read forum member tinaski's  posts on how he uses inkscape as a plug in. and figure that out yourself.

Or SPEND money on a cutting/design program for what YOU are needing it to do.   Your complaining about FREE?  Even a Roland or Graphtec ONLY gives cutting software with NO design capabilities. You have to purchase either Adobe Illustrator or Corel, to make the plug in work with their cutting software. It is CUT ONLY.  I know,  I have one. For $99 Flexistarter is a great cutting software, I have used it ONLY for over 4 years. with my 30" Graphtec, and it will import alot more formats than most cutting software. including inkscape.

I agree with the others. Signblazer is not the cadilac of the cutting softwares but it is one of those old ones that gets you from point A to point B.

I have used it for almost a year now and have no problems at all importing complex graphics from CS4 or inkscape and having them cut good.

Inkscape is a great free tool also but it can leave hidden layers. you have to dive into your graphic and make sure it has the fewest nodes and layers possible!

SBE is a great program, ESPECIALLY since it's FREE. If you need more get a copy of FLEXI PRO.

I use both some things I find are easier to do in SBE..just my $0.02.....

It is the only cutting program I have used. I thought it was easy to learn along with the help from the folks on this forum.  I actually worked directly with Jerry on an issues that I had before he passed  :'( he was passionate about this program and made sure you knew how to use it.  I am not planning on using anything else anytime soon.

It doesn't matter what program you use, if you don't take the time to learn it'll never do what you want too do.

Yes I do.

I totally agree......... SB is a wonderful program. I still use it after getting Flexi. I've made A Lot of money using it.

I sometimes wonder what it would be like if Jerry was still with us & what changes or improvements he would have made. B)

I used to use illustrator then go to flexi to cut but i can do alot now in flexi alone since i LEARNED IT. Inkscape is not the best thing that has happened to "cutters", it's just another tool you can use.

Jerry was the man, and made a great program, so much so that others have "borrowed" some of his code for their own programs.....

Sure would like to have seen what SBE would be today if Jerry were still with us.

It would be the best cutting software out there..that was his goal.

I don't know about anyone else here but I've put together some pretty awesome stuff with sign blazer....it may be lacking but once you actually put the time in to learn it, you will be amazed.....I have other programs (flexi; signcut) that I've paid big bucks for.....well, I somehow always end up in Signblazer...

Garry

me too

did you ever notice that when someone gets on here and has a rant like that, they usually just disappear afterwards?

Or when they get what they need you never hear from them again?
