[SOLVED]Graphtec ce5000-60 "no media" error when feeding out

Recommended Posts

Just picked this cutter up Saturday, so Im learning.

Was cutting fine then "no media" pops up. I pressed ENTER and it continued.

Here is what I found out.

I had a 5 yard roll on the stand rollers. Thats not all that heavy.

When the vinyl went to feed out during cutting, it took the slack out and naturally the roll of vinyl had to turn.

Bump. Error.

Is this machine so sensitive it causes a error when it suddenly pulls the vinyl on a roll? Am I going to have to cut my vinyl close to size and not feed off of a roll?

Mine has done this on a few occasions, What I do is turn on the auto pre-feed and set it to 1-2 feet and that seems to work fine. Also the small media locks (if you use them) make sure they are not to snug up against the roll to cause tension.

Hope this helps!

Hum... will need to read up on what the pre-feed is. Thanks.

Yea, I know the media locks were not to tight.

I also thought since it was feeding so fast that went to advance out and took the slack out it caused a sudden load on the feed rod and basically errored out the motor, if thats possible.

I have a 30" model.  and run my cut speed at 5, So my material feed advance also runs at that speed.  Really there is no need to run fast. I pre feed all my orders except small scraps,  Pre feeding is what makes your tracking good. The machine can follow the  previous roller tracks.  there is a sensor on the back of the machine that can tell if the material is there.

Yeah that is a possibility, I slowed the machine down from the factory defaults as well that could play a factor.

Ok I guess this is solved. Found this.

When using roll media, either extend and load the length to be

used beforehand or use the media feed procedure (
