kboyte 2 Posted April 15, 2010 If I were to but Orcal 651 vinyl on a license plate what kind of clear should be placed on to top this to hold it? Thanks Kim
TSQUIRTZ 0 Posted April 15, 2010 Not really necessary, a clear cover would work, but i have rattle can'd plates with vinyl with clear krylon or my favorite .98 color place clear from wal-mart.

bamafan2277 50 Posted April 16, 2010 Im with the others. I have done 651 on a plastic plate and it has survived the harsh cold and spring and the details on this plate are some fine lines and small letters.
Truckntran 0 Posted April 16, 2010 If you put that plate on the front of an oversize load chase car it will be bare metal in a few months of following loads in the winter or on gravel roads.....but in a normal vehicle it should be fine as is. I've been considering getting some paint protection vinyl to test out on the front of some escort trucks but the per roll price is way too high to experiment with. If anyone would like to part with a piece or pieces to cover about 1 foot by 5 or 6 foot PM me..
kboyte 2 Posted April 16, 2010 thanks guys for the replies. This will save me lots of time not having to clear them. Kim
Hornnumb2 2 Posted April 17, 2010 Not sure what you are doing with these, the plastic blanks from signwarehouse hold up for a while but then they start to curl. The last ones I did was on the white aluminum blanks, they hold up much better. Michael
Guest kenya Posted April 17, 2010 Made my hubby a plate two years ago, using just 651 & it still looks great.

MecH 0 Posted April 19, 2010 only reason you should have to laminate/clear one is if you print it.
