Looking for Static Cling

Recommended Posts

I recently found this forum and LOVE it!  You are all so helpful and nice.

Does anyone know where I can find white (or any color, not clear) static cling vinyl in about 10-12 mil thickness?  I have been using 8 mil but it's not quite thick enough for my customer's needs.  I would need it in a 24" in width.  I currently go through about 8 rolls of 24x50 yard rolls per year.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!

I started making window decorations for every Holiday. Instead of just scraping them off the windows when the holiday was over I put them on Static Cling vinyl. Then they are re-usable.

I thought about doing that not just for holidays but daily weekly sales.

Cut vinyl on static cling they can take on or put up as needed.

I even made a test one to see how durable it would be and have ran it thought the washer several times and its still like new.

Do you design them to be on the inside or outside of the windows?

We have a stained glass front door with a full view glass storm door. I put them on the outside of the front door so it is somewhat protected.

sorry to thread jack, but are you printing on them or applying vinyl to them. i am just applying the vinyl to them but yeah that gets a bit hard. hmmm an idea just came to me to maybe make some cardboard cut outs in rectangles to trim the static cling after i apply the vinyl. that is the biggest part i have had issues with is having the image completely centered on a rectangle piece of the cling

I did a 1/2" outline cut of the design and applied the vinyl to that. Left 1/2" just to give me some breathing room.

Thanks everyone.

Does anyone know of any other material that can be cut on a cutter that has no tack and is at about 10-12 mil thick?  I'm cutting stencils for a customer that wants to be able to clean off and reuse.

To pandc, I used to get my cling from Signwarehouse but like Jay said, they stopped carrying it.  The last two rolls I got were from Proveer (used to be Sign Supply) and were the same brand (Avery) and style I always used but the cling isn't sticking to the backing as well as it used to so it isn't cutting cleanly.  It pulls up off the backing a little as it cuts and causes some drag and mis-cutting.

That's something I'd like to start working with as well.

We don't yet carry it but you never know when we will.

SignWarehouse still has some -- you need to go to their Clearance area to find it.

Does this work similar to a magnetic sign, except the static cling will stick to a window?

Is anybody willing to sell me a sample, maybe 18x24?  I would love to give this a try before buying a whole roll.
