Printable Vinyl

What printable vinyl do you use the most?  I started out using Oracal 3641 and FDC lower end stuff (can't remember the number) and now I have Oracal 3651 and man I love this stuff.  I know it's about one and half times the price as 3641 but I believe it's well worth it.

Also what ink is everyone using?  I originally was using Triangle MLD Solvent but have since switched to Ink made by www.Image-specialists.com bulk system and man what a difference.  You can use Roland's color profiles and the ink is soooooo cheap compared to Roland.

Great minds think alike

I also am on Oracal 3651

Banner material I use the JET FLEX from ultra flex... Alittle pricey but prints better than anything else i have used.

Wall Graphic "Fathead" Material I am happy with Avery 2611

Those are my everyday vinyls

Im running the Eco Sol Max inks still....Thinking about Triangle

On that note Fivestar, How bad is the fumes/smell of the Triangle inks???

Hi,

I'm D. and I'm Printaddict (according to my wife)

I start with oracal 3640 and 3641 (matte and gloss) and I'm still using 3641 for coro signs(18x24)

Also, I'm using oracal 3165, which is a bit thicker then ones mentioned above.

I'm using solvex perforated film which works great for me (printing and install)

Same as Five , I had transition from triangle to Image -spec ink.

Great cost , great results with this ink.

Can't hardly smell them at all.  Caution though, Triangle is having some issues with their inks that they don't want to admit.  But I've seen some other people having problems with their ink too and when they switch to something else their problems go away.

James this ink I am using now is excellent with little fumes.  It's $80.00 per litre compared to Triangle's $110.00 per litre and I honestly think it looks alot better.  Neron I'm sure will jump in here and let you know what he thinks of this ink too as he was having problems with Triangle also.

Triangle ink did not work well for me. profiling and other problems.

Since I switch to Image S ink my printing become much easier.

Whats the bulk system cost?  Im paying $60 per 220 ml now

Well let's see I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I believe there's 1 thousand millilitres in a litre.......so for $80.00 you would get 4.5 times what you get for a 220 ml cartridge.

Nope not yet........lol......I've been so busy with t-shirts and basketball jerseys....this is my first week in I couldn't tell you how long I've actually had somewhat of a break.....But next week I'm gonna be busier then a one legged man in a butt kickin' contest.

I've got alot of things I "need" to get done, but honestly I am about half sick today, and I don't think today I'm gonna be doing too much, just gotta design a couple t-shirts today, I think it might be a short day for me.

But I do have your "design specs" saved in a folder on my puter to get one built.

Oh for heatpress vinyl, get Roland's heat transfer material.  It's the best I found by far.  It prints out very dull, but when you apply heat to it, it looks beautiful.  I've used Specialy Materials (Thermoflex), Joto's (multicut) and Feller's brand, and nothing compares to Rolands in my opinion.

Can you print on reflective material? Yesterday I saw yellow letters w a black background on reflective which def was not layered. But I've never seen printed reflective at the seminars.....that I remember anyways. And I might be needing it in the near future if all goes well

Five/James do you know if it will last just as long as reg layered vinyl? Is the reflective just as effective? VERY important, for emergency vehicles

Ive printed on Chrome vinyl with some cool effects... I think five seen it also

Yes I seen what James printed and it looked great.

It "should" with it being laminated, the reflective part should last just as long as regular reflective vinyl would.

Sounds good, I can see this is not going to be a good ending for the pocket though  :-

However, I've been checking out the cheaper alternatives (conversions) vs Versacamm so that would save quite a few thousand. Can you tell I'm working on my sales pitch for my DH. A girl can't have too many toys.....

Also did you guys see where you can take a photo and print it to be framed. Daughter's friend had this done and looks GREAT. I can see a lot fo avenues to pursue w it. OK OK enough dreaming I have to get some things done today, thanks a bunch

I actually have a printer that was converted, it prints slower then the Versacamm, but the quality is the same.  As for printing onto canvas and such of framed pictures, you can do it with solvent ink, but it looks better with pigmented inks, but those inks cannot be used outdoors.

How can we add in the printer section a thread for NON SOLVENT printers?

Now there is a thread in the general section which now belongs in this printer section I guess.
