Gadget Man 0 Posted October 15, 2009 THE FINAL INSPECTION The Policeman stood and faced his God, which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass. "STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN. HOW SHALL I DEAL WITH YOU? HAVE YOU ALWAYS TURNED THE OTHER CHEEK? TO MY CHURCH, HAVE YOU BEEN TRUE?" The Policeman squared his shoulders and said "No, Lord, I guess I ain't. Cause those of us who carry a badge can't always be a Saint. I've had to work most Sundays and at times my talk was rough. And sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awful tough. But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep... Though I've worked a lot of overtime when the bills got too steep. And I never passed a cry for help. Though at times, I shook with fear, And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears. I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around, except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand. There was silence all around the Throne, where the Saints had often trod, As the Policeman waited quietly for the judgement of his God. "STEP FORWARD NOW, POLICEMAN. YOU'VE BORNE YOUR BURDENS WELL. COME WALK A BEAT ON HEAVEN'S STREETS. YOU'VE DONE YOUR TIME IN HELL." Author - Unknown Godbless the families.
FutureSgtsWife 0 Posted October 15, 2009 How absolutely devastating... it's every police wife's worst fear. Keeping Beth and their family/friends/fellow police officers in our thoughts and prayers. There just aren't sufficient words to express our sorrow. Is there any memorial fund being set up that we can donate to? -Lisa & Erik
BannerJohn 1,324 Posted October 15, 2009 there is a fund set up by the Police Benevolance Association at the Wachovia banks over there but I have no idea how to donate online. Maybe someone over there does?

NukleoN 34 Posted October 24, 2009 May the officer in question, duly covered with adequate health-care as a city/state employee, be returned expediently to vitality and wholeness through the cumulative scientific efforts and practice of medicine made possible through research, trial-and-error, germ-theory, peer-review and falsification/filtering-out of erroneous ideas over hundreds of years of modern medical practice. Knowing said officer is covered by health-insurance, may we consider that he is fortunate to be treated by some of the most advanced medical doctors in the world's richest country, with some of the most innovative techniques and world-leading researchers. May the bedside manners of all relevant doctors and nurses be warm and knowledgeable and free from harm in good stead with the Hippocratic oath. May any medical procedures be free from malpractice and may the insurance companies approve required tests with a minimum of costs or hassle to the police officer and his family. May the officer get plenty of time off to recover, and my sincere hope is that he pulls through as well as can be expected in this difficult time. Not trying to be funny here. As an atheist, I wanted to contribute my well-wishes but I don't pray. Hopefully people understand this.
