 Who would have thought a word like that could be trademarked . CRAZY !!! I'm going to see if I can find out if it is the word in a certain font/style or the word in any form .

This is the New York Post article ;

This is not meant to stir the paranoia of a civil lawsuit here . I can see this happening as It is against a major size business with DEEP pockets . It is not right IMO , but i can see where it could be profitable . I wonder is trademarks are a state by state thing or a national thing . It seems that it might be hard to make sure something is not trademarked .

It's funny that you an go to any beach town and the shelves of every souvenir shop are full of Life Guard shirts. Macy's has one and it is a big deal. Whoever owns that trademark must never actually make it to the beach or they're just going after the big money.

I can see logos etc. but I think that it is ridiculous that you can trademark a word or saying like "Got Beer" ,  So if I was able to trademark "beer" does that mean any shirt with beer on it is infringement :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Yeah, that's gonna work...  I'm guessing they're in tough times, hoping for a quick settlement check.

I wonder how it is that your sister was of a handful singled out of millions of abusers.

here's an interesting wiki on it. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Will_you_get_sued_if_you_use_Limewire

Wonder if the "powers that be" have a remote interest in torrent downloaders ... far more copyright infringement stuff happening there I bet.

That is classic RIAA tactics...threaten to sue if you don't settle (legalized extortion). They would probably have settled for 3 grand..that seems to be the norm.

Anyway,anyone who uses Limewire deserves what they get IMHO...full of virus,spyware.etc. Limewire will mess up a computer faster than dropping it off the back of a moving truck.

If you want free music, there are ways to get it, that won't get you in trouble.
