s205521 2 Posted October 28, 2009 Amazing.. I get my 4.3 firmware chip put in tonight and with the speed set at 50 it cuts at the same speed as the 4.5 chip at 50. The speed of 10 is really, really slow.. just what I needed. Problem solved for me anyway. I guess everyone else will have to pay for the "low speed features" of the 4.3 firmware like I did. quick5pnt0 0 Posted November 9, 2009 Yep I ordered the chip as well and it made a huge difference. On 10 it cuts incredibly slow which is funny since support told me that 50 on the newer machines was the same as 10 on the older ones...big fat lie. The combination of the new chip and a authentic Roland blade has made a big big difference. No more ripped up vinyl and the ability to cut tiny detailed decals. Finally this machine is usable, too bad it took five months to get it to this point.
YadirellT 0 Posted November 9, 2009 Glad to hear everything worked out. These cutters ship from the manufacturer with the new chips. Which has trouble slowing down. Luckily, we just happen to be have the older chips on hand, which are limited. So we basically run into 2 problems. We can't really open the box to replace these on every cutter for obvious reasons, and we just don't have enough of the old chips to replace all of the cutters we carry. MZ SKEETER 4,709 Posted November 9, 2009 then why is this not advertised as such?, You are not letting the public know that they are getting a machine that will only run fast and cannot run slow and do detailed designs. Without having a chip replaced, that you may or may not have? Where is the BEWARE notice? As a fellow member stated,, DO you only drive on the highway? These new people should be given the info , so they can make a better comparison to a Refine product or another machine that will fit their needs. . NOT after they have purchased the product, then find out. "OH by the way, Your machine only runs fast". I think full disclosure should be made here and in the US CUTTER ads. my 2c
Karl 0 Posted November 12, 2009 serious question, why does it have to be a physical firmware chip replacement? I have had several items, like modem, computer, and such that the mfg sent a digital firmware patch program that I just run it and the item is firmware upgraded. is the chip being used not rewritable? The problem we, the users, are having is: along with a larger sign, the customer wants some directional or hours type signage, too few to be cost effective in screen printing. or we are cutting for screen printing, & need the ability to cut small . Brandon_Davis 1 Posted November 12, 2009 If you are having issues with tuning your cutter please submit a ticket and or call in to our support line. 1-888-298-8143 or http://support.uscutter.com I can say speed is not an issue and that other tuning is required here. These machines are all shipped this way and this is manufacturer spec. However the manufacturer has updated their latest revision based on US Cutters feedback and the new PCUT has a more adjustable speed and many aesthetically pleasing changes. Guest HowardI Posted November 12, 2009 The chips in the pcut are hard coded, not flash so they can not be updated via software. Software updating would be a wonderful addition to the machines (all but roland & graphtec) could use this. We really are not trying to mislead anyone and the cutters do work. The downgrade is available for folks who need it. Not everyone does though. zx360 0 Posted December 14, 2009 Howard, Do you still have these chips available? how hard are they to swap out because i have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM and every time i call they tell me its ME not the machine... its not closing cuts, edges are sloppy. I have a friend with an older one and she can cut the same exact file on the same vinyl and it works perfect. I dont know how to tell what version of the chip i have but mine also only goes down to 50 which ive been told is perfectly normal but seems WAY to fast still.... please let me know if you still have these
