Very common for the screws holding the solenoid and magnet concentric move slightly and cause coil, and hence head to rub and jam down. Cheers mobby

Hello i am a newbie, I just purchased my MH721 cutter last week and I have a HP laptop with windows XP and am using the usb cord do to I dont have many options. Well my laptop doesnt even acknowledge the cutters existance. I went and tried to install new hardware and nothing. Thinking its my laptop I plugged in my printer, scanner, and every flashdrive you could think of and it all works.

I put the little drive CD in but that didn't help as well. I purchased this one a week ago serial # 02232873. The cutter does turn on. If someone could help I would really appreciate you. Also I sent the us cutters support center a urgent email but got no response.

Emails are not the best way to contact USCutter. They mainly use a support ticket system now: www.support.uscutter.com

When you plug the USB cable in to your laptop- what does it show up as in your Device Manager?

"Emails are not the best way to contact USCutter"

That's nice to know. Do they still answer the phone?

Yes, they certainly should be with all the new non-smoking employees. I think the member meant ticket system anyhow...

So, with your Device Manager opened up, you plug the USB, and the Device Manager does not refresh and show anything new? Have you tried another USB cable? Another USB port on the computer?

The only thing that pops up in the device manager is under USB Controllers. I have tried 3 different USB cords in all 4 of my USB slots. Anyways when I plug it in under the USB controllers iit says USB serial converter.

  Nothing about new hardware found

OK, that sounds right, so when that pops up, also look in the Ports category- do you have something in there that says USB Serial Port (COM#)??

Ok under ports its says usb serial port (com4)

Perfect, the USB driver is installed correctly, so you no longer need the USB driver disk, just make sure you select COM4 as the communication port in the cutting software.
