Advice Please

Recommended Posts

Hi:

I'm new to this whole world of vinyl cutting, but pretty excited about jumping in!.  Looking to purchase a cutter to do room decorations for my daughter, and possibly other fun stuff for friends, etc.  I've been perusing the forums trying to decide which software tools are the best to use. I have some graphic arts capabilities and have both an Intel PowerMac and 5 year old PC.  From what I gather there are two programs out there - Sign Cut X2 and SignBlazer. Several posts seem to feel the blazer is the best and easiest to use. Since I have no clue, what do most members think.  I do 99% of my graphics work on the Mac (photo, inkscape, no Illy though).  My PC is an older P4 running lots of ram.  I'm comfortable speaking either language, but ant something thats easy and fast to use.

Any feedback would be most appreciated!

Cheers,

Pete

I think since you're well versed in both platforms, to just pick the one you prefer to work it. You can also test drive Sign Blazer Elements (SBE). There is a trial version which is fully fuctional and no time bomb. The thing is that there's a nag screen at the very beginning of the app start-up and then it's all good.

Give it go, we'll do what we can to support any questions you run by us.

BTW - welcome to the forum!!

there is no Mac version of Signblazer,so you will have to run it on the Windows PC.

I prefer FlexiSign myself, I used SignBlazer in the beginning when I first got my cutter but switched over as its closer to the look and feel of photoshop or illy and I like that better over the SB look and design..

Thanks everyone.  Is there a trial version of Sign Cut X2 or FlexiSign that I can also try out first?
