I cannot get my cutter to "talk" to my computer......Need help!

Recommended Posts

Ok...brand new at this. I just got my cutter MH721. I am trying to connect it to my Dell laptop using USB port. I cannot get it to work! I am not a great computer person but I do know a little about computers. If anyone can help that would be great! The cutter is put together and seems to be running but when I try to install the small white disk that came with the system I cannot get the correct device to show up.

Help please.....I ahve so many orders to fill and I really need my sutter working....Thanks in advance again I feel like a real dummy when it comes to getting this setup!

Plug in your USB cable, then check your Device Manager in the Ports category. Should be something that looks like USB Serial Port (COM#).

If not, the driver is not completely loaded.

DO NOT CONNECT THE CUTTER TO THE COMPUTER

Put the driver cd in and run "cutter plotter.exe"

Press Install

Close it

Plug In the cutter and let the operating system install the cutter (Recommended)

Right click on My Computer and goto properties

Hardware Tab

Device Manager

Look and see what Com port the cutter is on(on Vista it will be under Ports)

Once you find it Right Click on Cutting Plotter and goto properties

On the General Tab you should see the COM #

Goto Port Settings Tab and match those settings to your cutting program.

Hope that helps

USB connection is problematic........use the serial connection.

If anyone ever has issues with their driver cd just go to our support site (www.support.uscutter.com) and check out the downloads section. I have all of the drivers for all of our cutters up there for your convenience!
