  1. Hey guys. Been cutting decals for over fifteen years with a Seiki SK720H and Oracal 651 vinyl. I cut a lot of decals with small text and up until recently have had problems with dots over the 'i', dashes, slashes sometimes to often staying on the weeded material. This caused significant frustration and time to recut and manually move. I had been using Flexisign starter for most of this time but recently switched over to Vinylmaster Cut. I went through the whole calibration procedures to get everything zeroed in. All seemed well but I continued to have the issues. I decided to give two pass cutting a try and now I'm having a much better success rate (~98%) on these small pieces staying on the backer. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why this is happening. I've tried increasing the downforce from 120g (leaves slight impression on backer paper) incrementally up to 160g (nearly goes through backer paper) with single pass. This did not affect the small pieces staying where they should at all. I am using a quality Clean Cut 45d blade which I purchased a month ago. I have been using those blades for years. I've also reduced the speed to see if that helped, but that didn't help either. Can anyone suggest something to try so that I can use one pass instead of two. While the two pass is great in reducing my frustrations, it does take twice as long to cut the decals and is not ideal. Thanks for your time!
  2. I have a Titan 28" vinyl cutter and I'm trying to cut Oramask 813 stencil film. The film keeps ripping when I try to weed the design because it's not cut hard enough. I've upped the pressure to 320, which seems excessive, but still having the issue. Some parts of the design are cut deep enough, but other parts look like the blade loses pressure. It makes no sense. Any advice? Some of the lettering in the designs are smaller, about .75 to 1" tall. Should I slow it way down, bring the pressure down and have it cut twice?

The USCutter forum has always been an excellent resource for getting the "straight dope" on topics from the USCutter shopping experience to tips on branching out your business. Now we want to give back to all our users with credit towards growing their operations. We've done contests like this before. We know there's a lot of talent out there. Here are the rules this time around: 1. Posts will be anonymous to avoid any potential bias. Private message Marketing@USCutter (hover over the profile icon--Note:you'll have to create a login and have to be signed in) an image of your weeded (not applied) vinyl design on the backer. I will assign you a number and post your submission to this thread for everyone to view. (Note: Please limit your number of submissions to 3 at the most) 2. Use original artwork. Spooky Halloweed-themed designs would be especially in demand. 3. Indicate what type of vinyl you used. Heat Transfer Vinyl and Sign Vinyl may be considered for different awards. 4. Tell us what's your favorite weeding tool and why. 5. The top 5-10 entries will be selected by USCutter judges on the basis of creativity and inventiveness, difficulty, and visual appeal. USCutter forum users will ultimately be able to vote on the winning entries. 6. Entries will be considered through 10/14. All right. Start your engines. Happy weeding! Note: USCutter is not responsible for claims of carpal tunnel, real or imagined. By submitting your work, you agree to USCutter using these images for promotional purposes.
  4. I cannot, for the life of me get anything with any detail to weed properly. I even have some issues with large stuff... I've done EVERYTHING I can think of as far as the machine are concerned. The cuts look perfect, yet I still cannot get smaller pieces to weed properly. I've read a little bit that it may just be the vinyl I'm using (Green Star Gloss Black and White). I just placed an order for Oracal 651 -- is this going to help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  5. We purchased the Graphtec CE-6000 a few weeks ago. Read the manual front to back and read the forums the same! Set the blade depth twice now according to Mz Skeeters posts! Through our experience prior to having this cutter we knew the different colors of our Oracal 651 varied in thickness and have tried adjusting the pressure as we change the colors but something just isnt working correctly when we cut smaller images... The biggest issue right now is when we cut logo and text about 1/2" -1.0" tall. It simply won't weed and stays stuck to the sheet vinyl we are pulling up. We would appreciate any and all help! Static!

Cut a bunch of Sisser HTV for some t-shirts yesterday... While weeding them this morning the static was awful! The darn weeded pieces were sticking to me, the Xacto, clung to anything but the scrap box ....would not go into the box...litterally were repelled and jumped to the floor. Lemming leap style...It was comic to watch. The weather did shift last night and the temperature here in the shop is 65 F. So, I guess welcome winter! Anyone found a solution for the static? TIA Sue2

    Trouble with pressure/cutting/weeding

I'm having a few issues with my new Mh-721 1. Sometimes, the plotter won't finish cutting i.e, leaves out the circle in the Capitol "R" 2. Can't seem to get the right pressure on thicker tshirt vinyl, right now I have it on the highest pressure and its still not cutting all the way through in spots, (using a 60 blade) 3. I'm using Imprintables glitter vinyl and it seems IMPOSSIBLE to weed, it just comes apart in big uneven clumps!

    complete cut??

Hello,I am new to the forum and fairly new to the vinyl game, here lately ive noticed and issue with my plotter not making full cuts. For example everything thing that should stay on the decal isnt fully cut from the what needs to be weeded part,Im not sure whats wrong or how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  9. I'm completely green to vinyl cutting. What I'm trying to do is create a template to be used to etch aluminum. What I am planning on doing is to stick the vinyl to the aluminum, then remove portions of the vinyl so that part of the aluminum will be exposed to the etching solution, while the rest of the aluminum will be protected by the vinyl. My question is which cutter would be best suited for making this type of cutting, and which software would I need/want? Just about everything I cut will be imported graphics. Thanks in advance!!!
