Cut-off knife on my vinyl cutter stand

From the album: Home Workshop Setup

Zipcutter from USCutter's website. Held in place where I want it, by a magnet attached to the cutter stand.
  2. Here is my first layered vinyl attempt. The door is on magnetic sheet (white magnet background cut by hand). The hatch is vinyl directly on vehicle. What better a better place to practice than my own vehicle!
  3. Hello, I just got my MH 871 and after reading and watching all documentation. After setting up everything I realize that I have no "bounce" or "spring" in the pen or cutter holder. It does allow me to move it up or down manually, but there is no machine action in it. I assume it has something to do with the magnet part? Any help is appreciated.
  4. Well hello all, I haven't posted in the intro section but I've been reading around quite a bit and got a ton of help by just searching and reading up on everything. I'm two weeks into the cutter and have reasonably good success so far. Setup is a MacBook Pro driving an MH721-mk2 via USB/serial adapter. Using Inkscape until I get my hands back on illustrator. Cutting in SCAL pro as well as via an xp driven VMware setup in sign blazer depending on what's happening at the time. Having more success with large files in sbe for now. Enough talk, below is the current job for the customer. 4 yard signs, 2 vehicle magnets and a few freebie decals from some of the offcut. Signs are on coroplast, vehicle magnets are on precut duramag 30mil sheets. Turned out good enough for me to put my name behind it, but the more I look at them, the more I can find I could have done differently. Font and layout was chosen by the customer, however I can see how kerning could have been adjusted more to equal out the wonky characters better. Aside from that, work went smoothly and cutter did what I told it to, even when I made some idiotic adjustments that cost me a few inches of material here and there. If I keep doing yard signs, I will have to make up a speedier and less wasteful way of applying them, but I've found a few ideas by looking around here I can try out. Either way, thanks for a great place for knowledge and information and I look forward to contributing to the community myself. Quick thanks at the USCutter team for a smooth order process so close to the holidays!
