I recently (within the last 6 months) acquired a friend's small cutting business as he was changing careers and would no longer have time to fill orders. I have figured out the odds and ins of the actual plotter and even the software I initially started with (VinylMasterCut v4) and have started figuring out my more recent purchase of Sir Cuts a Lot (bought only due to the fact that a lot of his previous files were used with this program and my upgraded cutter came with VMCv4). One problem I still have is when I compare his decals (red decal picture) to mine (purple decal picture), I see that my letters are not as neatly cut as his and there are even times when the letters are uneven (the letter T for example, the two side of the top line will not be the same width). Also, his decal in the picture was smaller than mine and had better quality cut. Any suggestions or recommendations on how to fix this issue? Thanks in advance for any advice

I cannot, for the life of me get anything with any detail to weed properly. I even have some issues with large stuff... I've done EVERYTHING I can think of as far as the machine are concerned. The cuts look perfect, yet I still cannot get smaller pieces to weed properly. I've read a little bit that it may just be the vinyl I'm using (Green Star Gloss Black and White). I just placed an order for Oracal 651 -- is this going to help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I was trying to come up with a neat gift for my niece who is 17 and currently looking into college. I don't know her likes/dislikes...and her Mom had no suggestions. Then I thought...a neat monogrammed t-shirt would be great. Easy-peezy right? JRL I have gained immense respect for those who create monograms. I had tough letters to deal with and I would have saved time using the standard circle/square/diamond designs.... but, no, I have to get fancy! The first photo with white background is of two samples I found online.... amazing, balanced monograms....that is what I was aiming for. The second, with the blue background is what I managed to come up with for a pocket monogram and a shirt front design. It's harder than it looks gang! AND, of course, this site was down (AGAIN) and I couldn't get any of your helpful input! Sue2
