    Automatic vinyl weeding machine?

Is there such thing as an affordable automatic vinyl weeding machine? I am aware that the weeder sheeter exists; is there something that weeds the inner pieces as well as the background pieces? Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone! I hope I'm posting it in the right area - this forum seem to have a good amount of traffic so hopefully it can help. I apologize if it's not. New to decal/vinyl making, and got my SC Cutter 34" set up in no time today using Sure Cuts a Lot Pro 3 for Mac. Got the machine going and software set up, and made my very first print without too much headache - except for one minor issue: The pinch roller is leaving textured marks on the vinyl after a cut (attached is a photo of the finished piece after weeding - if you look at the B you can see the what I mean about the roller putting textured marks where the vinyl is being pushed down on the textured silver area). I'm using the 12"x5 yard Greenstar vinyl. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
  3. We are using the VinylMaster Cut v4.0 with SC-34in Cutter. I have an oval that needs to be cut out knowing it is wider then the vinyl. How do I tell the cutter to cut it in half so I can have a seam down the middle. I will try to send a pic.

    not cutting center of letters

Hi a customer has a logo that they want cut. I tried to cut it (Imported as .EPS) but it wont cut the center of the letters IE A,B D, etc... They told me it was created in Photoshop (I don't have photoshop) The file is a .EPS file. I put their logo into Corel Draw , and "converted to vector" and it shows up with the center of the letters not cut again! Has this happened to anyone (with signblazer?) is there an option somewhere to tell signblazer to cut the centers out of the letters (someone told me flexi has an option "with holes / without holes".... any help is appreciated!
  6. Hello, this post will be a work in progress as I brainstorm (and fumble) my way through a process to make a working media basket for my Copam CP-2500 vinyl cutter on a low budget. The goal here is to get others to make a similar media basket for their cutters, regardless of brand (unless they've purchased a factory stand that already includes a media basket). I'll edit this post to be more concise and proper once I work through some design challenges (like how to mount it to my existing stand), what sizes and dimensions I'll use etc. It is not intended on being an instructional article per se (at least off the start), but rather a bit of motivation for others to use to make one themselves for their cutters. We can also brainstorm and post ideas on how to overcome design challenges and make improvements since others may have better ideas than myself. This post may be rewritten as a "How To" though if I make some satisfactory progress in the period of time to come. Running cost total so far: $19.99 CAD So far the materials I've sourced out include: 1 - IKEA shoe rack called LUSTIFIK for $7.99 CAD that I will disassemble and cut and drill accordingly to make the basket frame and arms. There are ample metal tubes included in this shoe rack as it is. It will easily fit a 38" or longer (or shorter) plotter stand since the pipes can extend horizontally or lengthwise depending on how you're positioning them. Also, IKEA sells these metal tubes separately in their Drapery section of the store for $1.99 or more (I can't remember what the larger tube piece cost). I will need to buy two more "arms" in the future so I have 4 in total (you get 2). 1 - 54"x84" 60% Polyester and 40% Cotton Window Curtain for $12.00 CAD from a discount merchandiser for the basket material. I wanted a material that was as static friendly as possible in it's blend since we all know that static and vinyl cutters are no fun and pure Polyester is a static unfriendly material. I looked this up on the web and I was led to believe that the more Polyester blend, the worse off you'll be since it holds a negative static charge. Cotton on the other hand seems to be neutral in static charge. The material had to be strong enough to take some abuse but not heavy enough to cause other issues. I'll obviously need to get someone to cut and sew this material into a suitable looping "W-shaped" basket but that's where I'll employ my Mother to help I also chose a brown color for the basket since my Copam is beige and the store didn't have a black curtain available at the time I was buying. I have attached some pictures of what I've got so far and I'll add more pictures as I go along... I have also attached some images of a USCutter stand (from this website) so those images are Copyrighted by USCutter and all credit goes to them accordingly. I'm sort of emulating the USCutter stand as a template to work from. My plan is to cut the curved/rounded sections of the bars exactly in half to make identical sections for the front facing frame section as well as for the rear facing frame section. The arm extensions simply slide into the curved pieces as well. I'll need mounting brackets of some type too and the goal is to slide the basket arms forward and backward as needed to allow room for the media to come off the cutter into the basket. Of course, I think they should be able to retract so not to take up space when not needed. Anyhow, this is Day 1 of my design challenge. I'll post more as I progress. Stay tuned! Your comments and feedback (good or bad) are encouraged. Let's make this design something functional and decent but not too "ghetto looking".
  7. Hi I bought this cutter about 2 weeks. Im using vinylmaster cut that came with the cutter. Im trying to get clean cuts on designs. The designs are from the cameo software because I have i lot there and I dont want to start again doing all, so Im bringing them to VMC. Now, VMC vectorize the design and seen to me that the design is not so clean and straight lines no so straight lines. Any idea how to have a clean design? should i use inkscape or illustrator to vectorize? Im been playing with the pressure force, cutter speed, blade amount expose, etc. Right now i have cut speed 700mm cut pressure force 170g up speed 400mm/s baud rate 4800 blade offset 30mm for 45 blade Design are coming funny so i dont like it. Can some one tell me if this setup is good? bad? Other thing that i have notice is the blade holder, seen to me not straight and i thinking that causing problems, any idea? or suppose to be like that? Thanks.

    Titan 3 or...

I am trying to finalize my search for an upgraded cutter in the next 24-48 hours. I have been using the Cricut Expression for 6 years and it is a complete workhorse for the vinyl I have done. I need a bigger and more capable machine, as most of my jobs now require it. At heart, I am still just a girl who likes scrapbooking and making stuff. So, I am intrigued and giddy over the KNK 24" Maxx Air...but the majority of items I cut is strictly vinyl. I like the print and cut feature, I like the ARMS and contour...is the motor a true factor? Is there any comparing these two machines or is there a clear direction I should go? Does the Titan 3 cut a wide variety of items well? engrave, etc?
  9. Anyone have video or tutorials that are concise and helpful? I've done vinyl application before but not cutting. I'll be using my MacBook Pro to do interior lettering primarily. Thanks! DZ
  10. I've read quite a bit online about choosing a cutter, and understand that the general concensus is "you get what you pay for". Here's my context: -buying it for a non-profit -need to be able to cut 36"x48" vinyl pieces out to mask 3 seperate light box signs. (so a 40"+ cutter to get clean 36" strips is what I've been told is minimum) -primarily signage that will be placed on walls and windows -not a ton of little details work, mostly lettering at least 2" high -budget: would love to stay under $1k if possible Any insight? I've been trying to pull the trigger on this for 2 months and honestly am discouraged it's taken so long to get it figured out. Would love some clarity Thanks!

    Roland GX-24 Cutting Issues

Hi All, A little new to the world of cutters and vinyls still. I bought my Roland cutter second hand from a family member. Eventually, it came time to change the blade. Some of my dinosaur clip-art was showing need of dental work. Small things didn't cut well, and the dots on 'i's began to peel up. I watched some tutorials, then braved up to changing my blade with one of the Roland Cemented Carbide blades that came with the machine. It is a 45 degree I am fairly sure. I moved the blade force down to the recommended 60gf for the Premium vinyl from Stahls and moved the pen force down to zero. Performed a few test cuts and the new blade performed beautifully. Ah, the wonders of a fresh blade, I thought, excited to fill new orders. A couple of days later I came back to cut vinyl. Everything was peeling up. The cuts were dash cut. Letters were coming up. I adjusted the gf and pen force and did more test cuts until it appeared it all had improved. Next vinyl run, just as awful. Then I realized my cutting strip had a few gouges in it from a couple of times my vinyl had come off the tracks. I turned it around after placing an order for another one. Check my blade's edge, exposure, rotation, etc. etc. upped the pen force to +2 and after a few more test cuts, found ABSOLUTELY NO improvement. I am pulling my hair out now. I am getting uncut corners in the insides of Ns, Ms, Ws, etc. Letters are still peeling up to the point I wonder if my vinyl is just a bad batch with no stick.... For help, my cutter's specs are: 20cm/s 70gr 0.25mm Thank you for your help,

How do you get perfect decals?

Hi, I've tried to do research on this before but I've always came up empty. I started my own custom window decal business not too long ago and I've always seen companies with perfectly cut decals and never knew how they do it. They are all identical. I've tried using a big cutting mat with a blade connected to it. (The ones you see in art rooms.) Using this they looked a lot better but they were still different sized decals. I want my decals to look as good as possible so if anyone knows how to get perfect decals that are all identical let me know! Sorry if my wording was really bad and you don't understand what I'm saying lol.
  13. hi, i have an old graphtec fc3100-120 cutter. it used to be connected to a very old mac that died. now i want to connect it to a newer pc, i have got signblazer elements, got the connecter cable and linked them up, set the cutter to HP-GL mode, but now a bit stuck, someone reccomended that i need a driver for the pc, is there any free ones i can get to see if it works? and is there any other things i might need to do? thanks
  14. Okay so a couple years ago I brought a 31" Vinyl Express R-Series II Cutter/Plotter from Sign Warehouse, and upgraded all software to the Master Plus 10.5 version. Now in 2015, after so many problems with my original cutter from Sigh Warehouse, I purchased the Titan 2 from US Cutter w/ the SCAL PRO 3. What I can NOT figure out is how can I use the Titan 2 with the LEXI MASTER SOFTWARE, and also SCAL PRO 3? I have been told that I can use the software with my new cutter, but I can not for the life of me, figure out why it doesn't pick up any info on the new cutter at all. The Titan by far that I have seen thus far is GREAT, and it cuts unlike the funky R-Series Cutter. I do a lot of Race car designs, vinyl lettering & graphics, and really need to get this sorted out asap, since we are in the season for racing. Any advice, or help would be wonderful. Here is my E-mail address, if needed : Tracydaniel@Luckymail.com
  15. I just started my search and it's getting so hard to figure out whats the best option for me: I want to buy a cutter under $2k budget. I wish I could afford the Roland VersaCamm (Cut&Print) but I can't! so I'll need to cut pre-printed graphics for wall decals, so I'll need a contour cutter right? at least 36" -- if you have advice on printers as well I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice? thank you!

Bridge Cutting Plotter (new to me) HELP

Aloha Everyone, Came for help. I spent a lot of hours looking for the right help, but can't find it, so I succumb to join this forum so I can post and ask the stupid question: How do I make this machine work properly? This is the computer I am using that has Windows 8 on it: *note: there is no serial or parallel port on this machine, only usb ASUS ALL-IN-ONE PC SERIES Processor: Intel ® Core 13-3220 CPU @3.30 GHz 3.30 GHz Installed memory (RAM): 6.00 GB (5.89GB useable) System Type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch input is available for this Display I'm on a kayak forum like this one, so I know when newbies come and ask the same old question that has been answered a thousand times, it gets frustrating for the "old timers". After a lot of hours though, I thought it was time to give it up (register so I can post) as I have 3 part time jobs and don't have 30 more hours to try different "search words or phrases"....Maybe you can send me a link I might have missed or just tell me step by step? Ok now....CAN ANYONE BE MY MENTOR??? I have a brand new (to me) Bridge Cutting Plotter PRO365/720/870/1100/1350 (says on the front page of the instruction manual, but I don't know which one exactly I have. The sticky label came off the machine, though the serial number is: 4078 on the silver label. What I think I need to ask though, is since I think this is a 2005/2006 machine, I think I have to use CorelDraw, but what version? I'm assuming that since this is an older machine, it won't work with a newer version of CorelDraw. I have a friend with an older model Cricut try to help me, but the installation disks didn't work and also, we can't read Chinese. Instruction manual was pretty confusing for me also (at least for us). My All-in-one computer doesn't have a serial or parallel port, only usb (which in the manual, this is the LEAST favorable way to go) The installation disks didn't seem to work as far as the drivers I need for it, or at least if there WERE drivers for it, it didn't work (and then it's proprietary, so after the 2 month eval period, I'd STILL be screwed). To figure out which model I have, the built-in ruler goes from 0-28 inches, but the plotting pen starts at 3 inches, so I'm assuming it's actually a 25 inch cutter/plotter? Does this make it a PRO720 or a PRO870 ?? I got this machine from a girl that bought it brand new some years ago, took it out of the box, and never touched it after that. THANKS IN ADVANCE FH (Frustrated in Hawaii) p.s. On my friend's Cricut, he got an older version, so he tried Inkscape, and he said it was nasty, the graphics and came out really bad and fuzzy when he uploaded images. He found "sure cuts a lot" and it works AWESOME!! SUPER user friendly, etc. but he looked it up and it doesn't work for my machine
  17. I am totally new to the whole vinyl cutting. I have been experimenting and learning as I go. I have been building simply unit numbers for equipment. I have a request now to build DOT #'s in black with a green outline. is there a way to do this besides making the numbers in green then making them in black just a shade smaller and combining them?

    Making rhinestone templates

Does anyone know of an "affordable" stand alone software for making rhinestone templates with my US Cutter Pcut 24". I found a bunch of "add on" software but nothing in the stand alone dept. I am looking to make simple rhinestone font designs. I looked into getting templates made by a forum member on here but after two emails not responded to, I am moving on.
  21. I have a MH 871 MK 30 inch plotter, I dont use it alot and when I do, it usually works great! The problem is, when I went to cut out a size of 6.5 x 18 inches, I wanted the text to stay in the middle and for the border to cut at 18 inches, instead it only cuts the "tile" size. How do I get it to cut the border size? Thanks for any help you can give.
  22. Can anyone tell me where this wire is supposed to be attached to. I was cutting today and all of a sudden the up and down stopped on the blade. The cutter continues to go through all of the motions just does not go up or down. I opened the lid and found this wire just laying there. Any help would be appreciated.

    SC or LaserPoint II

Which one is better in your opinion 34" SC or the 31.5" LaserPoint II? I will mainly cutting car decals for cheer teams but doing some banner and yard signs now and then. Thanks.
  24. My Copam CP-2500 started asking for Paper Type when I turn it on. When I select "No" so It doesn't measure, the head does not move to the left. It gets stuck on start position on the right, even if I send something to cut it just move vertical and the head goes up and down. So now for some reason I have to let the cutter measure so the head can move to the left but not all the way since it measures until the pinch roller. How can I set the cutter to move freely without measuring first as before? Thanks in advance.

    Graphtec Question

I have been saving a few pennies and I am not at the point where I am thinking about upgrading my cutter. Which Graphtec is the best ? A must have is auto registration for contour cutting.
