How did you get your first customers?
cardudenc replied to yellow445's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
we have a retail/consignment shop here at the beach. I bought my cutter because no one would show up. kept getting "will b there tom" so decided I would jump in and do my own. started learninf how to with sm decals before doing our 3'x12' back lit sign. also put our business name on my enclosed trailer and added vinyl decals and graphics on the other side. my very 1st cust was a lady shopping in the store and wanted to know what that was behind the counter making that noise. I have an sc . lol. my 1st commercial cust saw my trailer. I did 2 trucks for him and his store ft. I'm hoping to step up my game this yr. plus upgrade and add equipment. so I'm also looking for better methods to get the word out since we have so many tourist come thru. -
AVERAGE VINYL
cardudenc replied to livinloudgraphics's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I use another online calculator to give me an idea. but on smaller things it seems too cheap to me. I also mainly use 651 for most decals. I see 1 post saying a $1 an inch. so are u saying 1x24 decal is still $1? the calculator I use quotes $1.78 for that size for a reg design, moderate is $2.23, intricate $3.12 now ive seen other calculators that you can put in all of your overhead cost and time spent on the design to calculate cost. even calculated cost of equipment for time used. that's a little too much for me at this time. but if I go into this full time I will prob use it to set a base price from it . the good thing for me is the guy closest to me is the highest in town, he has a ton of business because of location. I just did a few sm 2" decals for a cust/friend , he was quoted $65 from that guy. I did them for $20 and felt was making plenty. just had someone ask for me to quote doing 25 1"x5" and 15 3"x3" the 25 1" is just txt . I pick font and color. the 3" is tem logos. I get to pick color. I feel I struggle more pricing these sm decals than larger 1s. -
been meaning to post this for a few months now, but somehow kept forgetting. so when I 1st started on here. I read a post about this. most said these marks would fade. another comment was the quality of vinyl. and all the responses advised to not adjust the rollers. so at 1st I thought mine was because of the cheaper vinyl that came with my cutter. but since then I am now using oracal 651 and still getting this. and nope it isn't fading when installed. so now do I try and adjust the rollers? or???? tia for advice

sc pinch rollers leaving marks
cardudenc replied to cardudenc's topic in SC Series Vinyl Cutter Discussions
that's what I was worried about. most of the time I try to set the rollers or vinyl where it doesn't effect what I'm cutting. dn side to that is a lil more waste. I sent @primaldecals a few pics of somethings I finished and he commented how deep the marks were. since then I have been meaning to bring it up on here. -
1 of my unfinished projects right now is a table like Primals. also making a smaller rolling 2x4 table. right now in the back room where I'm setting up all my vinyl I have the florescent lights in the and a 4 ft hanging over the table. when I'm working up ft at the counter I have an led flexible floor lamp

WOW!!!!!!! Just finding this thread after being on here since april or may. I started from the last heading backwards. only 50 pages to go. lol. looks like another project I'm going to b busy on, dn loading and organizing new files -
So if I'm reading correctly. your saying you ran a wire from that grounding lug on the machine to outlet. I move mine around so would be tough for me to ground it like that. don't think Ive seen anyone else try that. I'm sure that grounds things tho. I saw 1 cutters add that it came with 1 of the old plug adapters that had a wire on it that you screwed to the outlet. but don't see where you need that with a 3 prong cord. @Dakotagrafx , yep my stand had huge holes that even though the instructions online showed to remove the rubber feet to install cutter on stand, mine would go right thru them. when this started I took them off and added big washers The plotter itself is grounded thru the plug, that stand remains isolated until you run a ground wire from the stand to the plotter. That has been the problem

I will have to look at what brand translucent vinyl I used, but I applied it wet

don't guess they are doing the rolls anymore. but they did respond quickly with 1 8x10 sheet of the window frosting film.

I use the weld option on the cutter screen and its always worked

I'm looking at a used Mimaki CG- 60 SL. He is pretty sure it was purchased in 2013 right before he closed his sign shop and moved here. doesn't show any wear, and he says it has very lil time on it. I have been thinking of buying an upgrade 24" cutter . a new titan II is 1 on my list as an option. a used roland and now this. I'm now using scalps and still have vm that came with my sc cutter. lets hear some opinions on this cutter, what software works with it , just any info that would help

Material 'By the Foot'
cardudenc replied to skarekrow's topic in Criticism and Complaints about USCutter
well I guess we see they either listened or its normal process for vinyl to be on sale this time of yr. this is my 1st yr on here so I'm not sure, but have definitely ordered some of the 20% off 651 -
on my last order I lost items from my order during checkout and didn't notice it until the items never showed up. the only solution I got from us cutter was to reorder and pay the shipping charges again. Just placed and received another order. while selecting items for my order some went in the cart and some didn't, some even got duplicated. this time around I was very careful and watching after having an issue with not receiving vinyl I thought I ordered. good thing I did. or again I would be without items I need and double on others. not sure whats going on to cause that. but still an issue with the order. so will be cust. serv tom. again. atleast this is a smaller issue. thought those oracal razor/ key rings would be cool. the site shows qty of 5 for 4.95 the pkg I received says the qty is 5 but only 1 in the pkg. even came with a card for replacements for $1.

Ive never had an issue until now. earlier I cut single decals. just tried to do a run of 6 and it stopped during the 5th. I don't have the anti static , but after reading about static issues and seems colder weather it is worse. I just ran a ground wire from the ground lug under my cutter to my stand. I think this maybe my 1st attempt cutting multiples since that. where all did you spray the anti static? I was also wondering if there was another option with what I was trying to cut besides just cutting off the cutter and starting over
