  1. I tag & insure some of my trucks in Tn and need to get there by the end of the month to renew the reg . There is some VERY cheap living around ... I let a gal who just had a kid move into the old mobile home and let her live there for free for 2 years . Came to an agreement for $200 a month Jan of 2012 . 2 1/2 payments since then . She moved out & let somebody else move in . I am going to try and promote some paying business when I get there .
  2. Yes indeed !!! Ambitious people will make it no matter where . Like the old adage , if life gives you lemons , make lenomade . Even around the DC and Baltimore area , the economy is tanked . I hear people complaining about no work , but when offered work , they don't jump . The cost of l;iving around here is not suited for retirement imo . I f close to retiring , a place that has a better cost of living should be considered . If still in the main part of a career , you need to be where people will/can spend the money .
  3. Plus that is only what that search comes up with , there are probably many more small shops plus people running it out of their homes & not licensed/registered etc .
  4. We bought a 165 acre farm in Weston WV in 1994 for $97K ( 7 miles out of town ) . Free unlimited gas for 2 homes . Property tax then was $200 , now $600 . General busines there is bad . Only thing booming is gas production . 1 sign shop in town that does good . When I get to retire a little more and move there , making/selling decals out of an enclosed trailer along with knife sharpening at auctions , races etc is how I plan to suppliment my income & spend some time . That way I can choose what and when I want to do it . I have a 1/10th banked dirt kart track that is almost ready to open to the public . A dirt drags beside it should be fun & suppliment income also . Self employed is the only thing besides working for the gas industry that pays much . There is no zoning outside of the city limits and as long as you don't muddy the creeks , nobody bothers you . So it seems more like the " free " America I was taught abut in elementary school . I have some family in Elkview and 1 day I intend on having some time to visit and meet Dan . I still have meeting John on my bucket list . I am going to Tn soon & am hoping to have time for that . Where I have property in Tn , it is even more bleak economically .

    Jerry...Signblazer rocks!!!

5 + years since any support and SB still does a good job . The weeding options are not much , SCALPro & SignCut are GREAT there as I assume Flexi is also . The Flexi Starter I have does not have the weeding option of adding them anywheree vert. or diag ... What level of Flexi does that start at ?

Just Bought This Program And ???

They went up from Corel Draw 5 several times and started off with Corel draw X1 . X5 has been out awhile and it seems X6 was either released or talked about . I tried Corel Draw , but too fancy for me . I can do what I want much easier in SignBlazer ( FREE ) .

New in Sign blazer need help

Cause inches are for older people like us . metric measuements are much more modern & logical . I try to use metric as often as i can , but always fall back on inches
  9. This thread could use a tangent ... Isn't there anybody who wants to tell Ted where he should live , how he should do it etc ??

    Almost done! (And random)

I always err on the side of safety/prevention . I have seen myself some things that are blatant , so YES , I ACTUALLY BELIEVE SOME GROUPS LESS THAN HONORABLE , USE MAINSTREAM SYMBOLS !!! . BTW , I also think it is funny when anybody has to go on a " rant " because of something like this . Ask a local kid trying to act ghetto what his pants 1/2 down means & it will be much different than the origins of that style in prison . Everybody is welcome to copy whatever they want , but I stay away from anything connected to unhonorable things . FURTHER MORE , I watched a show on tv about internet kid porn & what they used to " communicate " was very blatant . I heed what my dad told me " Don't believe anything I am told & only 1/2 of what I see and I would be about 1/2 right " . I don't care to have anything to do with unhonorable things and would rather miss out on some things than to mis-represent my values .

    Almost done! (And random)

I understand what actually it is supposed to mean now .. but this is how I roll ... anything like that has no " fun " in it AT ALL , including anything remotely connected ( well , a decal saying legalize hunting pedophiles would be ok ) . My mind reflects to a fond saying ... " How is the best way to wink at a _____ ( fill in the blank , in this case a pedophile ) ... When asked how , you close 1 eye & pretend you hand is holding a pistol & aiming it !!! There are many things that carry a street meaning completely different than the " defined " meaning . I remember the " discussion " a long time ago on this forum about this very subject . Turns out there is a 3rd group that uses it as I described ... of course all this is over the internet , so it has to be true .

    Almost done! (And random)

I read the whole thread and this post along with a Ricky Nelson song sums it up for me , Garden Party lyric " You can't please everybody , so you might as well please yourself " ( exact name of song & lyrics might be wrong , but they are at least close & what i remember right now ) . To those that making something that would bother them , by all means don't do it . If it does not bother you to make it , even if it is not " your cup of tea " make it and be happy . I have seen child molester stuff posted here ( some sort of bear that is an icon for those perverts ) and that stuff is lower than whale poop . I have seen alot of stuff in this forum that is in poor taste IMO , but to each their own . Getting pissy because it does not bother others to make what the customer wants as far as " correct design " ... is HILARIOUS to me

I wear glasses and have to do the same with the itty bitty sized font . I have a 21" moniter that is just over an arm's length away from me . Maybe John or another Administrator could make the default font size bigger ?? The fonts are a 14 and I use size 18 .

Glad I have a positive influence . I wish everybody would at least use a bigger size . Makes reading much easier on the eyes

  17. Anybody else having a probem with mouse action in SCALPro ? When I go to click on the project , the pointer jumps to the top left corner . I tried other softwares etc to see if it is my computer or mouse ( even changed mouse & keyboard ) & everything else works correctly . I have ran spyware-virus checks . My computer Pro ( Chuck - Ash Computers has been very busy in a red suit recently ... . I have not uninstalled & reloaded yet . I'll get Chuck to remote when he gets caught up & or call Crafts Edge when business reopens . Any suggestions or similiar experiences ? Edit ; I am thinking it is something computer related . Will post when I ( Chucky ) figures it out

    Mouse going crazy ???

Hey George , Thanks , that fixed the problem for me I really like the fonts to be bigger , so I will change ithe dpi each time I want to use SCALPro . I hope Crafts Edge looks into this ... With the lack of response , it seems the honeymoon is over ... I thought they & USC were gonna give the colledge try with this software .

Hey Ted , that is actually what I thought was going on

    Tailgate sign

Me knowing M500 is a nice , cool guy and does not post rude stuff was most likely a factor in me not thinking it was rude . Just like sometimes the F word is the only word that conveys the emotion intended , some words have more distinct meanings & that is why I think it was said like that . Pretty , but not very readable at all . I have made plenty of stuff for myself & not replaced it until iI felt like for the same reasons as the OP . Maybe a distinct font underneath with a website etc would make it an effective sign also ??

    Tailgate sign

Hey Ted , No offense taken , but I am interested in how I come across to you . I am a jovial person and sensitive to people's feelings . You read too much in my response . i did not mean to say you were thin skinned at all . i didn't even think about you considering it that way . Sorry about that . All I meant is that if someone said exactly what M500 said with the disclaimer in the next sentence to me , I would not take it offensive or rude at all . if the disclaimer was not said , yeah rude & offensive .

    Tailgate sign

I take that back , that was rude . He apolagized for saying it in the next sentence , so not really rude in my eyes , but I am not thin skinned . I read the whole thread , but didn't pay enough attention to that word . The decal is very pretty .

Posting is inviting an opinion imo . Nobody was even CLOSE to being rude
