I can move it and down by hand but it does take a little force and is not very smooth at all. It will stay down when pushed by hand, however.

Wow. It sounds suspiciously like the first one. Good stuff! Thank you for the help with that. Will let you know what they say.

I do truly appreciate everyones help with this tonight. It has been a great help. Apparently today is not my day.
-
After doing it more and having a better connection I think the head is definitely not jumping.
-
its making sound, not moving. I put the 9v up to it with the cutter unplugged

Pillaging wires now
-
Moving it up and down with my fingers it is not the smoothest feeling, but then again I have nothing to compare it to. Doesn't seem like it is necessarily binding but it certainly takes a little force. I just ran it with the cover off and I can't visually see it moving up and down at all for sure. When I attach the leads to the 9v should I have power on the machine or not?
-
Will try it tomorrow morning when I get a chance to get out.

Sorry...think we are writing at the same time. The up and down arrows are feeding the vinyl, and the left and right arrow are moving the carriage side-to-side. Unfortunately I don't have any wiring around the house...so I guess I am out of luck.
-
I have the cover off and I have a 9v battery. Do I need wiring? I see where the 2 black leads are soldered in.

I didn't know the pinchers were supposed to line up with the marks on the printer to be directly on top of the rollers. Stupid. Wonder if there is a way I can test the Z-axis? Am I pretty much screwed or is that something that might be fixable?

Will post

I actually just got it to make the design I want, but it is dragging the blade through the entire thing since I guess the head does not go up and down?
-
I got the vinyl to move finally but not sure how to get the carriage head to move on its own.
