  1. Hello, new to cutting and new to the forum! Bought myself a Graphtec 6000-40 and I've noticed that I'm getting some very small hang nails on some of the smaller letting, but only where there is a circular shape. I'm using the stock 45 degree blade and I've played around with the settings a bit, but the only way I can completely get rid of them is to make 2 passes of whatever I'm cutting. It's almost as though the blade JUST stops short of where it's supposed to. Quality wise, everything is superb and I'm very happy. Just wanted to know if this is normal or not. I've read of several other people with the Graphtec 6000 cutters having this happen. 2 passes fixes the hang nail problem but the quality of the work overall is very slightly diminished as far as I can tell. Can anyone confirm this is ok? I'm working with lettering around about 7mm in diametre. Thanks!
  2. Hello all, for a while now I have worked with stickers, decals and signage. Because of my interest in graphic design, and the contacts I have who work in the field and would be happy to work with me, I'd like to start a design and print business. I intend to be able to make business cards, flyers, banners, menus - anything that could be considered advertising really. Would a Roland print and cut machine do the job, or would I need something more specialised for business cards and the like? What could be accomplished with a traditional print machine? My budget realistically is around £7000/$9000 here in the UK. Thanks!
  3. Hi, thanks for your input guys. As you have mentioned, would love to hear from those in the business! Thanks Slice & Dice, it looks like I may have to look into a business loan... what do these run in terms of cost to buy the machine and cost for ink? Dakota, thanks for your reply - in terms of ink costs for a machine like this, what would I be looking at? Thanks!

Where to find these for sale in bulk?

Thanks for your excellent reply! I should have mentioned that I am in the UK, so local sources would be perfect. However, if the shipping/import duty isn't too much I may be able to get some here.
  5. Hello guys, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of where I might find something like this? I've been looking ALL day but I can't find anything suitable. I'm looking for just the sign board without the lettering, to sell on. Thanks!
  6. Hey guys, so I have some text I'll be reverse weeding, and since it will be quite small I'm not happy about the tiny little inner pieces of letters such as B or R, O, D, g, etc, and the chance of them not coming away with the transfer paper. Is there a way to join these to the outer section without having to manually edit each letter/number each time I do it? Attached pic shows roughly what I'm trying to accomplish, and if there isn't a way to do this then are there any suitable fonts you would recommend? Thinking about it though, any font with the inner piece joined would simply come away with the rest of the letter when reverse weeding, so I don't think this would work either Any ideas? Thanks
  7. Hello guys. This morning, my Paypal account was limited and made unable to accept payments through Ebay due to an Adidas logo that was on one of the Playstation light bar decals that I sell there. I quickly removed this and was then told that several of my other items breach Paypal's policies. All of these items are being sold by several hundred other sellers on Ebay, which is why I'm irritated. Here's an example of an item that I was selling being sold by other sellers on Ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=quattro&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.Xquattro+decal.TRS0&_nkw=quattro+decal&_sacat=0 I am a fairly small-time seller on Ebay, and have only recently started doing all this. How is it that some of these other sellers have sold these items for years without problems, but within a month or so I am told that I can't sell them? Have I just been extremely unlucky here? They tell me I need permission to sell these items, which is fair enough, but you can't make double standards for other sellers on Ebay, and realistically there's no way that these guys have sought out permission to sell all of these items. Has a competitor reported me to Paypal? I don't imagine that Paypal routinely scans Ebay for items they don't want people to be selling, and if they did they'd have imposed limits on all of the other sellers with the same items. A little advise? Thanks
  8. Thanks guys. Do you know what I should search for when looking for this kind of stuff?
  9. Noted everything. Just a bit shaken and frustrated that's all. Time to work on some original stuff!
  10. OK so the stickers are a no-go without permission. I appreciate that and have learned from the experience! The question is why have I been targeted but other sellers can resume business as normal?!
  11. There's no need to respond in such an aggressive manner and with such rubbish. There are several larger businesses operating on Ebay selling these stickers and as I've explained I naively assumed this would be fine for that reason. I am not arguing that there's an issue now that I've read up on it, I'm simply confused at why other, larger sellers are allowed to continue operating selling the same decals that presented an issue for me. Break the law? Calm down mate, not exactly selling Cocaine on Ebay am I?
  12. I've done a bit of research and as far as I can tell only trademark is applicable here, and not copyright, since trademark covers logos and slogans, and copyright covers other stuff. I'm not certain that all of these designs are in fact trademarked. Please see: http://smallbusiness.chron.com/differences-between-copyright-trademark-3218.html It refers to America, but I'm sure the rules are more or less the same here in the UK.
  13. I'm in the UK. It was a sticker similar to 'THE NORTH FACE' logo but instead of saying THE NORTH FACE it would say THE NORTH WEST or THE NORTH EAST etc. I completely accepted that since all of the other listings were removed too.
  14. It's definitely not that Mz Skeeter, because I had this problem with another item I was selling a few weeks ago and Ebay simply removed it and I haven't relisted it. This is Paypal specifically who have restricted my Paypal account receiving payments, and not Ebay.
  15. I see. Do you guys only produce original content then? I'd like to hear from people who have sold decals like the ones I'm trying to sell and how they went about doing it! I just want to know what channels I should go through to make sure I'm in the clear when it comes to this. Here is a listing which has sold slightly more than the particular item that I was selling which features several of the apparent copyrighted logos and icons that I was selling, and MORE: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-Playstation-PS4-Controller-Light-Bar-Decal-Custom-Personalised-Vinyl-Stickers-/181920799424?hash=item2a5b531ac0:g:6WkAAOSwwE5WU7ou So that isn't legal, right?
  16. How do I make the distinction between what is and isn't copyrighted? I don't see the little C by many of the logos. Can we focus on the Quattro one for a second? I've looked up the trademark database and it only states vehicle parts and repairs. A sticker is neither of these. When I looked up Playstation, they had several trademarks covering anything you could think of. So it should be fine to sell the Quattro decals, right?
  17. I have found the trademark for Quattro here in the UK: https://www.ipo.gov.uk/tmcase/Results/4/EU000019414 It states: Class 12 Vehicles and constructive parts thereof. Class 37 Repair and maintenance of vehicles. Does this cover stickers?
  18. With so many other sellers selling the same items, I naively assumed it would be fine. Is there a channel I should go through if I want to sell the copyrighted/trademarked items? It just seems so odd that the other Ebayers have had no trouble for years and within a short span of time I'm having issues. I have no problem removing the items. I do have a problem with other sellers still being entitled to sell those items when I am not.
  19. Hello guys, is there a cheaper alternative to buying a large format solvent or eco solvent printer that will accept rolls of adhesive printable vinyl? I'm just looking to make small sets of stickers, but they need to be of a high quality and last a long time. Any ideas? Thanks
  20. Hi thanks for the reply, I would like to sell them but nothing outdoors, just basic stickers. I typed pigment ink printer into google and got results for printers like this back: http://www.printerland.co.uk/HP-Officejet-Pro-8620-P133908.aspx?source=AddwordsA7F65A&gclid=Cj0KEQiA7rmzBRDezri2r6bz1qYBEiQAg-YEtvYN0FO-ZDNzYBdkxyANdWOh1hFESvdqVcLIACx3U40aAutG8P8HAQ Would that be ok? Do you have any examples of aqueous based vinyl stuff? Thanks mate
  21. Right, I see! What do you think about using those A4 pieces of sticker paper, laminating them and then cutting them out? Would they be ok for train set/RC decals etc? Wouldn't a good inkjet printer suffice for work like that? And if not, do you know what the cheapest option in terms of buying an eco solvent printer would be? I'd like to do it myself since that's the fun of it!
  22. The prices are great.. but I don't think I'd risk it as I may not get a proper unit as has been mentioned. Don't think it's worth the risk to me.. and if it wasn't the right one then I'd definitely not have any way of sorting it out
  23. Hey fellas, thinking about buying a machine from alibaba and was wondering if any fakes exist? And if so are they obvious fakes or do they look very similar? Cheers
  24. Good points.... think I'll give it a miss..
