Does magnet material go bad? Pictures attached from my customer
gwestcorp posted a topic in General discussion
Does magnetic material go bad? Customer sent these pictures of magnets I made that are falling apart. He's had them a couple weeks. I cut them from a roll of .030 Magnum Magnetic. The roll is a few years old but I've done other magnets recently with no problem. Does anyone have an explanation for why this might be happening? I gave the customer a set of care instructions. Customer needs to be able to remove often. Thanks in advance for your responses. -
Does magnet material go bad? Pictures attached from my customer

Yes the sun has been extremely hot here in Floriduh?! I offered to replace them and use a different roll of material but I think they are coming around to the fact that it could simply be the heat causing the problems. My other magnets that I've made recently aren't being removed daily like these were. So many people need magnets around here because they live in gated communities and have crazy homeowner rules. Glad I live in the woods and don't have any rules. Thanks for your insight. -

Love it - love anything camo! Wounded Warrior projects are amazing. Lots of gator hunters around me too. Lake Okeechobee area. -
Newbie there's a youtube video for everything and anything you want to learn. Search layering decals, installing decals, sign vinyl, etc.

It's a full color decal applied to white magnetic material. The black is printed.

Here's some stuff I've done the last week or so:

Looks great. I quit using parenthesis' around my area codes. I either use a dash or period to separate the numbers. Just a tiny less busy.

My sign shop is in one small bedroom. Heat press, t-shirt & vinyl storage, vinyl cutter, one 2'x6' tall table, one pine table desk and another longer Ikea table with adjustable legs. Outside in the barn I have a panel saw and larger tables I can work on.

I love Siser easyweed and do 2 layers all the time. I tack down the first layer for 4 seconds then tack the second layer for 4 seconds then remove mylar, cover both layers with kraft paper and press both layers for 12 seconds. That way you don't get the mylar lines on the first layer.

First job, too cheap?
gwestcorp replied to Trickz72's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
Looks simple enough. For a friend I would have done it for $50. Maybe $75 for others. -
My husband has a 1999 Diesel Ford F350 with 475,000 miles and still pulls a 37' fifth wheel with ease. Bought it brand new. I have an F150 with 207,000. Hope it keeps going forever. I still love it. Also owned a '67 Mustang and a '91 Mustang.

looks great. I like the yellow. I would have used bullets instead of commas but that's a personal preference.

I did one for my Spanish friend one time "Quatro por Quatro" or something like that. I'll have to find the picture. I like your designs. They look great. -
Vinyl Business or Keep My Day Job
gwestcorp replied to Marie925's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I've done it and you can do it. Left a great corporate job in 1994 and never looked back. My husband had the benefits with his job so of course that made it easier. My last child left home in 2000. I work out of my home in the woods in a rural community but I'm involved with my community (Chamber of Commerce is most important (to me anyway) and my town takes care of me. I am self taught on everything I do. I started out just doing typesetting then started brokering the printing. This led to brokering signs then when I saw how easy it was to make signs I bought a Graphtec FC-7000 and started making my own signs. I outsource my full color work to a local sign shop and that's been great. I also sell promotional products. It's too easy not to now with the internet. Just this year I discovered heat transfer vinyl and started doing shirts. Wish I would have discovered it a long time ago but I didn't. I just did 40 shirts today for a bridge run tomorrow. I create all my signs and shirt designs in Adobe Illustrator. I am a one person operation and occasionally need my husband to help me with an install). Remember there is a youtube video for everything so if you need to learn a certain thing for a certain job just google it. Good luck and look forward to hearing how it's going for you. -
Love it, especially since I collect roosters. Here is a sign that has hung in my office 20+ years. Would be great on a guy's shirt!

Looks great.
