    Compressor Blast cabinet

I use this compressor from HF with my HF blast cabinet and 120grit AO. http://www.harborfreight.com/29-gal-2-hp-150-psi-cast-iron-vertical-air-compressor-61489.html Is it the best, no. It does work though. I dumped the stock gun a siphon tube and run this one below from northern tool with the smallest nozzle size and have little issues blasting for glass etching. http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_23137_23137 On a full tank at about 145psi I get about a minute of constant blasting at 80psi before it kicks back on. (most of my glass blasting is done in about 20-30 seconds though).
  3. higher than .6mm? When you change the offset in the software does it change the offset on the machine when you do a test cut? I'm really confused after 9 months of cutting perfectly why its now doing this.
  4. Bottom right is a test cut done on the machine, you can see how the corners are not square and it jogs a little on the bottom. Last I checked it SCALP3 was running the most current version. Ran some more test cuts last night and its completing the cuts fine with 1mm over cut, I dont like the way its sloping the cut in the bottom corner of the triangle. Thanks for the help.

  9. What I started to do for anything tiny, especially those "e"s, I pull an extra what ever is difficult out and just cut what needs to be on the side of my design. This allows me quickly weed and then go back and transplant those tiny difficult letters and details that come off. I'm also using a 60 degree cutter. In the Guns and Coffee example I know the mouth, nose and trigger guards are the hard weeding parts of this design. Nose is .07"x.02". I put the extra pieces in one of the corners of the box, (upper left in this example) then I transplant back where they belong after I weed. Doing this cut my weeding time down more than half. Left the nose out of this one but you get the idea.

    Titan2 Pressure setting help

I did a ton of tiny stuff with titan 2 using a 60 degree cutter that came with it, my settings were typically 50-70g's and 60-80 mm/s vinly/size dependent. Example of what I was able to cut. The fleur de lis was tiny!

No text in SCALP from AI

You guys are making this harder than it has to be plus it was already answered, but to reiterate. Once you finish your design, click on the text you have created, right click and hit, create outline. Save Open SCALP Import, done. Notice I only selected one of the text boxes to convert.
  13. See how this looks, done with a few mouse clicks in cad. Looked fine in AI. Perforated Holes Layout - edited.ai

    Something I Made

So I got tired of placing the 16 ounce pint glasses in my lap and not having dependable repeatably for applying stencils for etching Designed and printed this fixture. It has the same taper as the glass, provides a straight edge for lines 180 out. Plus a slot on the base for lining up your marks giving you a straight line to center your stencil against. Next version will have bored holes in the side for the marker to fit in to give straight lines around the circumference of the glass at different distances.

    Something I Made

Wow! For which machines though? At my work we have always used Stratus machines, usually $30K+, we keep talking about buying a cheap one to mess around with but never have. Doesn't weight much, maybe half a pound, had it print sparse interior low density to reduce the amount of material, and time.

    Something I Made

I find that hard to believe. XYZprinting printer that uses extremely cheap material, is still a little over $1 a cubic inch.

    Something I Made

We have a Uprint 8x8 at work, its roughly $5 a cubic inch, this model was roughly 8 cubic inches, so $40 plus less than a cubic inch of support material. So in total maybe $45. If these were to go to production it would be much more economical to have them injected molded out of ABS or similar.

    Etching

Your not worried about copyright infringement? Looks good though, I've done about 70 glasses since starting in November.
  20. When I do tiny things I typically use a piece of clear vinyl over it to keep everything together. My small cuts are usually for sandblasting and not for decals though.

    Guns and Coffee

I have another that has been used daily for a little over a month, no issues.

    Blade Spin

From my understanding you want it to spin, that way the blade cutting edge follows the direction of the programmed cut.

    suggestions for machine upgrade

Happy owner of a titan 2, its more than capable, I use mine almost daily and have done some tiny detailed stuff. But I drive a Volkswagen and wish it was a Porsch... The Flur-de-lis lower tail is less than 1/16 of an inch.

    Question regarding sand blasting...

I wondered about this but noticed the base of the mug has a exposed ring to give the mug some grip. My guess is that etching will be fine.
