  1. Thanks again for the explanation. It really has helped. I think we will let the contractor take care of his business by deciding what he wants to charge and so on and we'll charge our design rate, materials, and cost to cut/ print/weed profit, etc. the sign on top.
  2. I looked at your website. Wow you really have some great marketing and other ideas. I really like the pay someone to drive around with the logo on their car that is unless they are involved in a crime or something like that lol then again negative publicity works for Paris Hilton...I'm rambling. What I wanted to ask is what do you pay your marketing people? Do they work part time on contract? Cheers
  3. Good looking sign there Dan Thanks for the detail on how you work things. In your example how does your amount break down? So if I came to you asking you to do that job, that is what you would charge me above and beyond what I would charge the customer?
  4. No, he works with my husband. My husband was talking about giving him 50% of everything and I told him I would come here and ask to see what other people do.
  5. We have a situation where we know a guy who can do installations and do big jobs like light boxes and building fascia. He would just be on a project basis for those types of projects. What would be fair to pay him? Say a light box is $2000. Should we pay him a flat fee per job or a percentage of the job or something else? Cheerio
  6. We are looking to buy a cutter and am wondering if anyone has this model or has used this model and what you think about it? HIGHLIGHT HL-1351 Vinyl Cutter Cheers

Hi All, I have been reading and forum and decided to sign up. I know nothing about signs but my husband is a sign writer for a company for 3 years. He is thinking about going on on his own. We have the space and are legally able to do it and we have some money to get started. I guess I am looking for advice on equipment, what type of signs to do, formula for pricing jobs. He can do all sorts of signs from windows, big store fronts, car wraps, etc. He does mainly design and he is very artistic and good at it. He doesn't know how to weld but he could learn. I even thought about making stickers and selling at a local flea market. Thanks for your help. Cheers Lemony
