Siser Easy Weed - Anyone else having issues?

I don't even the extra for nylon on their site. When I filter for just nylon it gives me a Hexis Cutflex only. The roll has a label on the inside with the following on it: 700009794z 02/18/2014 US Cutter I just got out of bed when I saw this and checked and I looked on their site and those numbers don't bring anything up on their page. You could be right, I'd just have no way to really know. I don't think I ordered the wrong stuff - I'm guessing they would have told me when they pulled up my order, reviewed it, and asked me what kind of material I used (Cotton). The world may never know.

Didn't necessarily switch - they gave me a credit for material, as part of a promotion and I thought I'd give it a try. So the material didn't "cost me anything" (if you look at it that way) but replacing the bad shirts that cracked does. It's not a single issue. It is happening on a whole bunch of shirts I've done (10-11 customer shirts and about 8 of my own). Yah, I'm not testing anything at this point. That's the manufacturer's job. I'll just switch back to Fibron and chalk it up to a lesson learned. Goose - it may have been a bad roll. This vinyl isn't coming off really, it's just cracking really badly and I guess since it's cracking, now it's catching in the wash and pulling it off. Temps look good. It's a lesson I learned the hard way (like I do most of my lessons) - Maybe Siser is a great product - I'm once bitten twice shy... The amount of shirts I have to replace for others, along with material and labor don't really give me the warm and fuzzy about using it again. Then there are my own shirts.... ugh... Case closed...

Siser Easy Weed - Anyone else having issues?

I'm not really interested in getting into a whole big debate here (because at the end of the day that's all it is...a debate) but I guess I was expecting US Cutter to stand behind the products they sell or at the least, broker a resolution through Siser. Using your example...if the hinges went out 3 months after buying it, Best Buy would stand behind it and would exchange it then they'd deal with the manufacturer and RMA it. I only know because I returned a laptop that was defective at about 8 months after buying it. If I put Vinyl on someone's vehicle and it started cracking 2 months after I installed it - I'd make it right and deal with the manufacturer separately. Maybe I just have a screwy sense of business ethics... The other piece to this was that I guess I would have expected them to have more of an interest in a product they sell failing for a customer in this manner. It just seemed like they wanted to throw 15 bucks at it and move on. The scary part is I don't know if this is going to happen to the other colors I have, or if it's just white (I've done 2 shirts using blue and bubblegum which seem to be ok and a few in black but every white one has done this). I'm not willing to take the chance using it on a customer's stuff again - period. I'll just buy Fibron which I've used for years without troubles. No biggie, life moves on. Lesson learned

hmmm...interesting. Yah the material looks like it started cracking and splitting (much like screen printing after a year or so). I've never had any issues with Fibron and this was the first time I tried this specific material. Let down all the way around. Again, black pressed the same way - zero issues which has me leading to something with the material itself but I guess I won't know because US Cutter doesn't want to fix the issue...so I guess I'll just move on and will stop ordering it from them and I'll replace what I have with Fibron Thanks all...

well, that was a dead end. They offered me $15 credit... which is more of an insult honestly Despite the fact that I have about 10-11 shirts I have to redo (more if the other colors I have done have started this too), and pay for (if I exclude my own that are doing this) Guess I'll go back to Fibron & Fellers... Pretty disappointed in the product and US Cutter at the moment...

sometimes the answer isn't so much forcing your software to do what you want it to do...but teach yourself to do things different. Sometimes you can't just throw pictures at software and expect it to spit out a finished product. Sometimes you have to fix what you're feeding your software to get a better finished product. Nobody's software is going to magically pick this image up with the poor resolution it is, and just flip out a good trace or a better one than you can pull. It's going to require someone to do some manual effort so let it begin with you so you can learn how to do this and get some practice... For this, it's a pretty easy process. 1. blow up the image n the screen (if you have an old glass monitor) OR...If you don't, print it out enlarged and you'll need to set up a quick trace table (which you should have if you don't already). Can be simple (Light under glass coffee table) 2. Lay a piece of paper over it and trace it with a medium to small tipped sharpie 3. Then you can either take a picture of your sharpied finished product and vector that with your software or scan it in as a vector (if you have the scanner/software to do that) Then feed that into your software and let us know what you get. </teaching to fish>

Do you need to cut in vinyl or print?
  14. Or... you could try popping it in the freezer for a minute or two. I've done this with regular calendared white vinyl that has a white backing. I've never tried it with HTV but I'd imagine it's the same concept
  15. I have the CE6000-40. I do pretty well with the 15" machine. I'd always had 24" or bigger so this is the smallest machine I've ever owned (it's also the most solid followed shortly by my old Roland). Having said all that, you cannot be a Graphtec. If you have the money though, I would go bigger. It's better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it. 40 is a desktop model so no stand. it comes with little 'table top rollers' that kinda hook under the machine. They're "ok" but nothing beats a stand... You can use scraps on this one. no issues there

Who wants to make my wife a phone case?

Sorry... spell check got me on my phone. Galaxy S5. She likes the hybrid cases (plastic and rubber). Wasn't sure if y'all could do those or just the hard plastic ones

I realize this is an older thread, but I figured it already had the key folks on copy Anyone making Android Galaxy S5 Cases with sublimation prints on them?
  20. I'm not much into going into NY, and my plotter isn't large enough but I have a customer that reached out to me for a job involving 7 graphics at 172" x 60". They need the job installed after 9:30pm and until completed (before the morning when they open for business). This is a job for a pretty large/prominent business in the area - so please only message me if you're equipped to handle something like this. Please reach out ASAP. Please PM Me. Since my name is sort of attached, in the form of a recommendation, please ensure you've got the equipment and installation know how before reaching out. Thanks
  21. HI, I'm using my CE6000 and a Workforce 7010 loaded with 3G Opaque papers (well, I wasted enough of them so now it's got plain paper) http://www.graphtecamerica.com/contour-cutting-print-cut-in-graphtec-studio I'm using this tutorial EXACTLY. I even had my wife watch me to verify I'm not missing any steps but EACH time it prints the stupid contour cut color even though I did what the instructions say (6:50 in this video) and unchecked that unique color I used for my contour cut. Anyone run into this?
  22. Well, they secured someone to do the work. Good thing though, I ended up talking with the guy for an hour and he's setting me up to be an installer so may pick up a few jobs here and there for them. So not a total loss
  23. rough area? It's inside a retail business - doors will be gainfully locked behind me
  24. You would think. They are some big panels (7 @ 60" tall x 170" or so long as I understand it) so It's under 2 hours from me. Maybe I'll just toss a price in the ring (one making it well worth my time) and see what happens. It's one of those deals where you start at 9:30 but have to be out before they open.... Not really sure where to begin on an install price but I'm trying to figure it out... any suggestions?
  25. nobody? It's just an installation job. Prints are done and would be shipped to you, then you get paid for installing 7 of them
