Broadway Mainstreet Store front 1700sq ft $350 a month!!

You have been wanting to do this for a long time now and your boss being a Dip Azz may have opened a door to your future. There might not be a better time to pursue your dream then now. Right now you're hungry which will push you to make it work. You don't have anything to prove to anyone. Well other than your wife and if she has your back then piss on all of the haters and move forward. One question.... Are those utility costs based on previous months bills or will you be on an even pay plan? Only asking because you won't know your true costs or usage until after your first quarter. Presses do draw a bit of power. It's neither here nor there just something to consider. -

New sign design without copyright issues???

I don't see copyright being an issue. From a design standpoint that windmill must be huge up close ! It's not proportionate to the mountains and the sun gives me the same feeling. Maybe lose the windmill and make the sun much bigger and popping up from behind the mountains with some big rays...... just a thought -
Graphtec Studio - Cutting Only Selected Objects
express2100 replied to ScreenScene's topic in Other Software Programs
Graphtec Studio seems to remember or hold the paper size of the previous job. I haven't found a way to "lock" it on a particular size but it is easily corrected. Try this: Click on the "page window" icon (two icons left of the "cut job" icon) Under "paper size" click the drop down menu and select the size labeled "max" Then under "job size" make sure "fit to media" is UNCHECKED and "proportional" is CHECKED Under "origin" set X & Y to 0 and "position" to "move freely" Finally under "orientation" set the "rotate" to whatever works best for the design and since you are cutting HTV you will need to "mirror" to either "horizontal" or "vertical" which ever you prefer. What cutter do you have? Good luck! -

Good for you man! I hope it works out for you. Yes I would tame down the storefront colors a bit and let your vinyl work on the windows and door draw them in. -

Searched here and only found a couple. Anyone willing to share some of the silly trendy owls that people like so much I'm pressed for time and all I have is an owl font which would work for this free party gag if I can't find better. Thanks!

You may not have a clean design. Zoom way in on the cut lines and look for any overlaps or imperfections and edit nodes to correct. It could also be shotty vinyl. I have had that problem with inexpensive vinyl and learned early on to buy the name brand materials. One other thing that comes to mind is how long is it sitting around before you weed? I'm sure you're eager to see your work and weeding right away but I do know that on some vinyl the cut lines will somewhat heal back together if left unweeded for too long. I always cut and weed in the same session. If I don't have time to weed it that day I don't cut it.

Sure blame it on the wife!.....Just kidding Joker I like it. My wife is dying to get into apparel. I am too for that matter but have a long ways to go before I feel comfortable investing in it. Happy B-Day Dawson

And now you edited your original post once again! removing the "who cares what it looks like" Dude stop backpedaling and let the conversation happen. You're gonna need a thicker shell around here. Most of these guys would have been ten times more critical the I am.
-
"Who cares what it looks like"? ?? Might as well close up shop now then!!! what the....? You changed the title of your post from "Eye Catcher" with nothing more than (not mine) in the post to "Road side Banner" in response to my reply?? Are you sure this isn't your work? Makes no difference to me who made it but keep in mind you are on a sign shop forum........we DO care what it looks like!
-
Creative thought? Yes......... but IMO it has three counts against it right off the bat...... no contrasting text on the panel, banner is on the wrong side of the fence and not properly attached. It only really catches my eye because it is so hard to read

Gonna do some door knocking
express2100 replied to lablover's topic in Business Practices, Sales and Pricing, etc.
I tried what wildgoose is suggesting once and it didn't go the way I had hoped. One of my local tobacco shops has ancient vinyl on their storefront window that is faded, majorly cracked and pealing. They also have a vintage cheesy plastic Newport sign with stick on block numbers for their hours hanging on the door glass. I frequent the shop twice each month and one day I gave the owner my card and a line and he said he'd keep it in mind. A few months later I said "hey when are you going to let me freshen up your storefront signage?" Surprisingly his response was "I kinda like that old look" As I walked out I thought 'yep it really compliments the 1/4" of dust on the shelves and the 100 yr old carpet that has never been shampooed let alone vacuumed. Wrong business to target I guess -
