I tried the serial cable that it came with (to the new serial) and the LED is blinking and not making a connection.

ok so I need to get the adapter and a null modem cable?

1. For a while I was getting eratic cuts, everybody suggested it wa a static electricity problem so I grounded the stand to the cutter and it went away. 2. During the middle of a cut, the machine will just stop. Sits there, does nothing. Like it locks up. 3. If it doesn't lock up, during a cut it will freak out and then keep cutting a line down the entire roll of vinyl until I can get over there to stop it. I'm looking at multiple yards of vinyl that has been ruined because of this. It just won't stop. This is the 34" SC model using Sure Cuts A lot Pro.

I used an alligator clip from the roller bracket and the bracket that the plotter sits on, so far so good

Just tried it again. When it got to the last letter of the last cut, it took off down the roll and cut a line almost 3 feet before I caught it.

Ok, I'm back with 2 new issues. Sorry 1. I'm getting lines cut for no reason across the vinyl and it ruins the others I'm cutting out. I was told it could be static from the vinyl or system but I have no clue. It just did it again and cut a line across every single one making them bad. 2. See attached picture This just started. These deep gouges on the roller line. What causes those? (btw I brightened it up quite a bit so you could see it) Thanks again everybody!

thanks everybody for the help, I learned several new things now. When I was looking at it in photoshop, the outline effect was set so that's what was messing me up

What I didn't do was change it to "2" colors for just black and white. After I did that it looked much better. Thanks for the help!!

The good news, I'm getting better. But I still have questions. When I take a regular picture I find on google or whereever or a decal I want to try and make, it put it into Inkscape and convert it to a vector. What is happening is that it's cutting an outline and I'm guessing it's because of the shading on the image. So, for an image, it's making 2 cuts around the outer edge. When I blew up the picture I see this. Is this the problem and if so how do I fix it?

ok I searched but didnt' find anything and I'm very happy with the group that has helped me out already, so with that I want to throw out another question: I'm seeing marks from the knurl of the roller on the vinyl. I thought at first it was because maybe I had too much pressure on it but I turned it down to 18 and still see them. I also loosed up the tension on the handle as well.
