    Cover for Mimaki Printer

When printing big areas of color, I would have spots from like dust or dirt that got on the roll. Came up with an idea.

    Switch ink type?

I don’t know if this is possible or even need to. I have a Mimaki CJV30-130 solvent. If we could afford it, I’d love to get a latex. Is it possible or even worth it to switch it from 4 color to 8 color? I don’t know if it’s able to just get a different ink type and put it in or what. Also, should we stay with solvent or switch to eco solvent or water based pigment or solvent UV? Or is it not worth it or can’t be done?

That’s the problem. People don’t come back to the forum so other users can find out the solution.

    60 Degree Blade?

Thank you. You know I didn’t even think to slow it down. That way the blade will be able to spin around. Thanks.

    Which HTV Series?

So it seems like our dealer, Grimco, only sells Briteline and Sihl HTV. Anyone familiar with these brands? Which is a good one to get? G-Flex 210 Blockout, G-Flex Turbo Print 236, G-Flex Ultimate Print Nylon 235, G-Flex Ultimate Print Soft 230 matte, G-Flex Ultimate Print Soft 232 matte, G-Flex Ultimate Print Supersoft 233, G-Flex Ultimate Print Transparent Soft 234 matte, Sihl 4583 T-Printz. I know it’s a lot, sorry but thanks.

    Transfer Tape

I always use RTape 4075RLA. I have some RTape AT65 clear. It works great when trying to get something lined up on a big sign. The only problem with it is it has so much static that went I pull it across the table, it wants to grab the vinyl and pick it up before I can get it down. Can anyone recommend a good clear tape that doesn't cause this static when unrolling it? Or is that the nature of the beast with this clear transfer tape because it's not paper tape?

    Transfer Tape

Was thinking, my laminate that I use on my cold roll laminator has static too. Guess it’s just the nature of the beast on plasticy (sp) wraps.

    Transfer Tape

Wow. I just noticed my phone sucks. I can’t even understand what I wrote it changed words so much. I don’t know why they call them smart phones. They’re dumb as hell. Btw, it changed phones to phone so, but I caught it and fixed it.

    Transfer Tape

I think the next thing I have to tape I will try the tape facing up. I’ll just flip my roll on try that. Yeah the static is rough. I usually always use the paper tape, but sometimes I have to make signs that are like 8 rows of text and the height of the sign is 4’. It’s just easier to do a line at a time with the clear so I can see my marks to lay it. If I use paper tape, I trim it and the very bottom of the don’t ans the top to line it up better. It’s just so much easier when you can use the clear and see exactly where the mark is.

Help needed! Applying transfer tape to large vinyl

I used to wrinkle paper tape, but never do anymore. I pull the tape out past the stickers, and press it down to the table past the vinyl. Then I squeegee the side to the table so it doesn’t move. Then I squeegee about 8-10” down the center. Next with my squeegee at a 45 degree angle I do the same 8-10” from the middle I just did to the bottom. Then the same for the top and repeat until I have the whole strip taped. Never get a wrinkle anymore.

Help needed! Applying transfer tape to large vinyl

Also if it’s longer than my table, I let it hang off under my tape roller. Once I tape down to the tape, I pick it up and slide it more on the table until I get it all done

Help needed! Applying transfer tape to large vinyl

I just use a regular size squeegee. I have a long table and a rod that holds my transfer tape. Pull out my tape, press down the end to hold, squeegee the middle, then the bottom half, then the top half, and repeat over and over until I have it all taped. If it’s too wide, I use multiple strips.

    Will sub Work?

This may be for Dakota since I know he has a print & cut machine. Are our printers, such as our Mimaki CJV, able to do sublimation? Been searching online and it says garmets and sportswear but I think they’re talking about the heat transfer.
